Is it possible to send a live sports stream (US Football from NFL.com) from my desktop PC to my dreambox 800hd clone so that I can watch the game on the tv instead of the pc ?

I think it is possible but hopefully someone can confirm and if so let me know how to set it up (hopefully its not too difficult to do)

I think it would be easier for you to get a lead for your computer to tv and do it that way.... rgb to hdmi, hdmi to hdmi as an example as i dont think it can be done that way, but im sure i will be corrected if it can..........

no, we discussed this last year. the thinking behind it was;

i was going to record a live stream on my pc then stream the file to the dreambox like a movie, hpoing for a s slight dely. it didnt work

The major problem is that most of the internet streams are in formats the dreambox doesn't recognise. In order for this to work you require the data to be transcoded into a fairly standard TS datastream. Unfortunately few programs/pc's are capable of doing that in real time.

If you can arrange to have the transcoding done then its basically just a matter of running a playback program on the dreambox that accepts its input from the network rather than from the sata drive. As long as you can make your stream look acceptable (ie, like its been recorded by the dreambox in the first place) then there shouldn't be a problem.

you can send recorded material in most common formats to dm800 through vlc player and presence vlc player plugin in dreambox
daily we use this method to explorer harddisk of pc and select any media
