    Help! Motorised dish won't turn

Hi. Got a DM800 set up on a motorised dish. Yesterday when switching from 19.2e to 13.0e the dish simply wouldn't turn. Nothing I have done on the box will shift it. I don't have a ladder so can't get near the dish (scared of heights anyway). Does this sound like the motor is gubbed? We've been getting a lot of rain and I'm wondering if that's it.

May be that damp has got into the coax cable, if so you will need to renew, very important to seal your connections with kyjelly and watertight tape

The guy that fitted it says it was watertight. Trying a reflash on the box now

        re

        hi,

a little trick i have found when the dish isnt turning

1 make a back up of your current setting

2 install vhannibel setting (this can be installed via plugin from ts panel)

        3 load vhannible motor 73e -45w

        4 reboot dreambox

5 reload your settings back up you did in step 1

        6 reboot dreambox (not restart)

        hope this helps

I've reflashed the box (via browser) and no luck. Any other ideas?

^ This sounds good mate to me. Have you tried manually moving the dish on the sat finder settings etc? If you can get it moving from there then thats a start.

If all fails, I suggest getting a ladder and overcoming your fear of heights - easier said than done of course, but you (or someone) is going to have to get up there and have a play with the motor at some point possibly!

              Someone else mate :-)

I'm going to get a mates DM500 tomorrow to test and see if it's the box.

Do you think a reflash with dreamup would make a difference?

I had this on my mates box, same box as mine his box wouldnt move the dish yet mine would.
Ive actually got his box now on my setup and it moves my fine.
One possible thing could be the power supply even if it powers up the box.
Another thing on some images you can change the tone ampitude settings which i think helps to give power to the motor.
Ive a Dreamelite image and ive mine set on 800,see picture below. You could try that and try one of the bigger settings like 1100.

                Andy.

Tried a few things now and nothing. Quick question. I am borrowing a DM500 tomorrow to see if that does the trick. If the 500 moves my dish, what is the most likely problem with my DM800?

Personally i would say its the power supply cos most are crap quality compared the the rest of the box.
Double check all f connectors that could be the reason the motor aint getting no power from the cable,or try a short length of cable and see if that works.

                    Andy.

Have you tried a different image mate? You say you have reflashed it, but is that with the same image?

Just seen your other post.. see your having a bad day. Just put the kettle on mate and relax, we've all had these days and it all turns good in the end, keep on plugging away!

Checked all connections box side, completely tight.

I flashed a couple of images prior to the one I bricked it with, no joy.

I have also tried a couple of power supplies (both are the same kind mind you)

Is it possible the tuner is gubbed?

You could take the cover off and make sure its seated correctly.
Like you say try another box and see if that works.
Daft question but have you configured your tuner and entered longitude and latitude?

                            Andy.

Yep, configured as it was when the box was working

Pain in the arse, but I'll get there.
