Hi, i have 1 box with no internal fan, instead its got a bigger heatsink, great idea but no space to install hard drive now ?
Thanks
You can fit a hard drive sill if you need to, I had some issues with a second box and the hdd. So I purchased a 300mm long sata cable from Bowlers, you will need to mod the power supply as that isn't as long enough and it has a different plug (easy just adapt the one that came with the box) then put a little notch in the back of the casing. Worth it if you can be bothered.

Hi, dont quite understand, you also got one like this ?
No I dont have the se, I have 2 pro's, but still the same regards the hdd. It just gives you the option to fit a sata hard drive using the internal connections of the box, or you will have to go usb route.

Hi, i can fit internal 2.5 inch drives to normal dm800pro with normal heatsink with fan, this new heatsink doesnt need a fan, as its bigger but now cant install internal drive, only usb route

Sorry mate I don't think I made that clear in post 10. When you have the 300mm long sata cable, connect it to the same internal connections in the box, you will need to change the power plug for the one that the box was supplied with, and notch the back off the metal casing, then the hdd can be placed somewhere out of sight, on the outside of the box. I have never used one on a dreambox, but I suppose if a usb drive performs the same, why bother!
Suppose it will also eliminate any added heat, if you use permenant time shift.
Anyone who needs to fit the hdd outside the box look here
The only reason I have done this is occasionally the box upstairs locks up sometimes when deleting, and I worked out that the box dosent like the hdd or the hdd dosent like the box, and the box will not boot until I remove the drive and format it. So now that its on the outside, I just unplug it, then the box works fine untill I can be bothered formatting the hdd.
