As alom says, however if the oled display has developed a fault (not uncommon on 800se) you could log into your router to determine the IP. alternatively I run a network monitor program on my main PC, it displays all devices connected on the network with there local IP addy's

i can seem to get it on network, either hard wired or wireless. ive tried all the addresses from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.110 which is where i'd usually find it on my network.

would the ethernet port be working without the green and amber lights coming on? theres also no lights coming form inside i'm sure i remember them when it was working (leds on the pcb maybe?)

guess its back in the box and return it so

Have you checked the main board for any signs of blown caps? Sounds as tho there no power or not enough getting tbrough. I don't think it will get a IP an no power to port.

Can you see the box from usb? Does it respond to anything from usb?

I dont anything about these boxes. If a flash failled from over ethernet. How would these be recovered? Usb?

no bulging caps that i can see, Cunny.
i used a usb to mini-usb to plug it into tha laptop and windows said it was installing a driver for "Dreambox DM800SE" .It was doing that with or withour power to the Dreambox

The usb port control chip on the 800se is powered by the usb port ie the pc connected to it. So thats why it loads the driver with or without power applied to 800se

Have you tried powering it up with the tuner removed? Shouldn't be possible but I'm wondering if the tuner has somehow moved in transit?

i pulled the tuner when looking for blown caps(there were a few underneath)
it did look a bit sideways in its slot but it still didnt power up when i put it back together. ill give powering up a try with tuner pulled soon.

                    edit

tried powering up with no tuner, no difference

if there is no sign of life anywere on it and you tried a working power power-brick then sounds like it needs sending back mate , if you got it from china , be careful posting it back , as customs wont let a stb thru for some reason , you may need to send the main board only

bought it this side of the world, from a guy who seems to have good reviews on customer service, so all should be good.
                        thanks again guys.
