i wonder is it the hdmi port on the rear panel
thats damage and you cant connect a hdmi cable
from the box to the tv, if it is then the dvi to hdmi convertor
wont be of any use because there is'nt anywhere to plug it
in on a se model , but for anyone who wants a dvi to hdmi
convertor plug they are a fiver at tool station i use one on my 800hd

Has the socket come of the motherboard? Have read that this was a problem on earlier models of the SE.

it looks to be still be on. if i keep the lead to one side the picture comes on so i am thinkling it just needs a new socket. some one must no a place to buy spares for dream boxes.

If so change it first, I have had a couple were the screen is either pink/green and or no pic and you have to wiggle lead around, changing the lead for another 1 has sorted this problem.

It does sound like the socket may be loose on the motherboard. Open the box up, plug the cable in and then do whatever wiggling around you do to get the picture whilst watching the connectors on the motherboard.

The other thing to check is the actual inside of the socket itself, shine a torch in there and see if the contacts are all lined up.

This happened on my 800se and it finally came off the board"
, took it to a tv audio repair shop and they fixed it but it never lasted long. Scart works though.

Best bet is a tv repair shop.

What, did it come off again? Any person competent with a soldering iron should be able to resolder it back on unless the connector or the actual tracks themselves have become damaged as a result of it originally coming off.

No, It was still soldered well but just never got the signal.

it was the tracks that were broken at the start.
