it was the tracks that were broken at the start.
If the socket is still firmly held in place then any competent electronics engineer should be able to repair the tracks by bridging over the broken bits.

Hi all I hope you dont mind me adding my problem to this thread but its very similar. Hdmi has worked fine for ever then turned my box off (on the rocker switch) before I went to work. When I turned back on the box it booted up ok but no hdmi video? Scart is fine and settings are set to hdmi. Replacement lead tried and a different telly! I have tried wiggling the lead but all is firm. Its not as if it had been playing up, it literally stopped working after turning the dm800se back on. It looks like I will have to send back to China but if any of you guys can throw any light on the problem I would appreciate it.

You need to open the box up and take a look inside to see if the hdmi socket connectors are OK.

Also, good luck with getting anywhere with sending it back to China, I've always ordered from China but have had recent problems and the supplier just keeps on asking me to repeat the problem, say they'll post and then when I ask a few days later have to go through the what is the problem, yes we'll send.

does it work on a scart lead? i ask this because
i have read elsewhere a dm500hd had the problem
of the hdmi failing and not connecting to the tv, but
it works first class on a scart lead, this was a genuine box
and dream multimedia said it would cost ?90 + postage to and
from Germany to get it fixed.

Try pressing down on the hdmi socket to see if you get anything.

thanks again for the suggestions, it works fine off of scart but I miss all the HD channels . I have wiggled the connection but not pushed down on it. Its worth a try I will report back later. Cheers all.

sorry for stating the glaringly obvious but you have tried a different cable right ? there is a few types 1.1 1.2 1.3 etc, an a different input connection or tv ?

if you got a multimeter check pin18 for 5v HDMI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

yes tried diferent cables, the cable from my DM also works fine on my hd Virgin box. Plus I have checked my dm on other hd tellies. When I looked I thought the connector looked surface mount on the pcb, do the pin go through the board, I havent taken the board out of the case, I also havent checked the 5v pin.
                          Thanks

You will still get all the HD channels using a scart and it is very good quality.

not much point getting the hd channels if you have to watch them thru a scart lead...id go with a big blob of blue tac to keep the cable in place and never dust it
