    Signal on DM800

I've noticed that in bad weather, if the dB level drops to 4 or below, the picture starts to glitch quite badly. There are some channels where I get quite a high dB level, so the bad weather doesn't seem to effect them at all.

For example, Channel 4 HD is 15.5dB normally, so in bad weather this would drop to no lower than 12.5dB and the picture remains uninterrupted. On Premier Sports, it would normally be around 6dB and would drop to about 4dB in bad weather. This usually causes the picture to glitch until the weather clears up.

My question is, would an inline amplifier like this In-Line Signal Amplifier Sky Satellite Booster + 2F's | eBay installed on the DM800 end help lift the dB level by 1 or 2?

Im pretty sure it wont help, you need the dish realigning, it seems slightly off.

Either the dish needs realigning or the LNB needs skewing to get the best signal which should hopefully fix the problem.

An inline amplifier will amplify the good signal and the bad signal (noise) so it will not help the picture quality. These devices are generally used for long cable runs where the signal would normally drop because of the length of the run. Sounds to me that your dish need a little adjustment.

Premier sports is on Eurobird 28.5? so only minuscule but if your using a Sky dish then as already been suggested a slight adjustment is probably needed.

Also if your only getting 6db from premier sports this works out at around 36% snr which is very low indeed, you should be getting around minimum 75% snr or 12.5db on a sky mini dish

Thanks for your replies. I'll get someone out to realign the dish.

Because it's a dish I'm sharing with another flat and the only way you can access it is to hang out their front room window.
