DM800 clone doen't boot with HDD installed

    Hi,
I have two DM800 HD, one is working fine but the second has a problem when I connect HDD (internally or as E-SATA).

When I flash the dreambox (with or without HDD) it completes successfully. Then after power off, I have connected HDD, power ON and it starts OK. Dreambox finds the HDD as correct model and size (Seagate 500Gb). I run HDD initialisation and it finishes with no problem. After reboot it hangs at the boot stage. If I disconnect HDD then Dreambox is working fine.

The same HDD has been tested in the second Dreambox OK (boxes are identical-purchased the same time), both are imaged with the same image (currently Dream-exp-dm800hd-patched-by-voyger - have tried several images with the same results).

Are there any settings that I need to check?

    Thanks in advance

    P.S.
Have tested the HDD under Windows 7 - couldn't find any problem with it.

Try swapping power supply's, one may be faulty an may not be gettin enough juice with the hdd installed

Have deleted partition and re-initilalised with the same results. Swopping power supply units didn't help (the dreambox fails to boot if I have connected the HDD as E-SATA with it's own power adaptor). But it works fine if I have connected it as USB. Is this possible to be a problem with SATA controller?

don't suppose you have a case/caddy to test it with the external esata?

Firstly I was using HDD as internal connected SATA and it worked at the beginning. Later it started playing up and currently I am using external SATA docking station which allows me to connect HDD as E-SATA or as USB drive (it has it's own power adaptor).
I have connected the HDD as USB and was able to initialise it and to record with no problem. Restarted Dreambox with no problem as well. But as soon as I connect the HDD as internal drive or as external (E-SATA) the Dreambox doesn't boot.
If I delete partition on the HDD I can boot fine, Dreambox recognised correct model and size, and I am able to initialise drive. Then on next reboot the Dreambox will hang.

Looks like the Dreambox has a problem with SATA controller - will leave as USB. Thanks to everyone!!!

If it recognises and allows you to reformat the drive when you delete the partition off it then surely and logically, the SATA controller must be working?

What type of drive is it and what speed is it?
