Here's an update,I now have a DLink Wireless USB dongle using the RT73 chipset, and the setting up is ok,it recognises my network but won't connect to it,baffled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Cheers Chas.

So here's another update, the DLink dongle seems to work OK and recognises my network, but it won't talk to my router. And I think I know why!!Installing all your normal settings in the setup is OK,BUT these settings apply to the box,NOT the dongle.Remember that the dongle is a device external to the box and not part of its system,so any settings applied in the box won't apply to the dongle. If anyone knows how to gain access to the box system setup for the dongle,I and I guess a lot more people would like to know!!For the present I'm using a pair of Power Line Adaptors.Hope this makes sense and helps.Cheers Chas.

Devilfish (or some one) can you please clarify what image this guide is based on as it would appear on newer images the Wlan feature is not available and i would like to try it even if it means rolling back to an early image
Thank you for your good work

                            Hi

I am having problem connecting my dream box, i have got Static Ip address. I have gone into the DB and followed the steps for connecting to the network, i have put the details in and turned of DHCP. It connects to the router network, but when i do a network test it fails to register the Ip address. WLAN connects but the other box are all crosses......
When I took the DM to my cousins it worked all fine, he has standard broadband connection. I think this is the issue, if so can it be resolved or do i need to go to the standard broadband provider instead of Static????

Please help its doing my head in..........

what provider you with ? wired you cant just simply connect to router as would normally,, what about other stuff on your wireless you got laptop , phone connected etc ??

cant you just go into router firmware and turn off static IP ?
