Also should the ethernet cable be plugged into the dream box and my pc at the same time ?

Ethernet goes as per normal , from router to dreambox, and separate supply from router to pc , basically they are both on the same network, also don't power your box on until dreamup tells you to, you attach only null and network cables, then insert power when d-u finds the unit

That's exactly what I am doing don't get it .what I also treys was to delete the things that was on the green screen with dcc I then rebooted the dm it starts to boot up gets to about a quarter in and that's it but now stays on the enigma screen and no green screen anymore.
Very strange the fact I can't connect with the IP address and also with the dreamup null cable.
I take it you can't flash with dcc as I can access everything with that?
I also tried to use flashwizard but it looks like the software won't work with a dm hd800 clone.

So I'm a bit stuck here wasted days on this!

as andy pointed out further up this thread the usb to null cables are hit and miss, much better results with an old pc and a dedicated coms connection. if your able to ftp then the box is obviously "online" . I aint never used dcc for flasahing so cant help there. when in "stop" mode are you getting to the webpage with "firmware upgrade" on ? might be worth trying another browser, firefox or chrome ?

nothing to do with I-p address, if it opens the firmware-upgrade page its online and communicating with your browser, the file you are sending/trying to flash is DOT.NFI file type right ? and it is the correct .nfi for your specific model right ?

Yeh it's the same file I've used to flash it to last time.

Just reading this thread and I had exact same problem with regards trying to get null modem cable (usb end + rs port end) that would connect using Dream up. this was for flashing an Dreambox 800HD receiver. I bought my first cable at Maplin and it didnt work at all with drivers installed etc. Then bought cheaper one from Ebay and it worked. Not sure why some worked and some didn't but dont give up hope and try perhaps another cable. I'll try checking my history on Ebay of purchases over the past 12 months and see if I can find supplier I bought it from for you. Might help if your still going round in circles trying to get Dream Up to recognise your Dreambox. I did this for about a week, trying every combination of everything till I use the correct lead and it worked first time (alot of frustration can be saved!).
