the spec on the 500hd is
SPEC H.264 in hardware DivX in hardware Simultaneous HD and SD output 1080i support HDMI and component output Dolby Digital, DTS 5.1, AAC and WMA support PIP with simultaneous HD/SD decoding Nice fast processor (400MHz dual core MIPS32) SATA-2 for hard disk and DVD-R/W hardware PVR support with trick modes Triple USB host (2x2.0, 1x1.1) dual smartcard controller

            and the 800hd

Features: - 300 MHz MIPS Processor - Linux Operating System - MPEG2 / H.264 Hardware decoding (DVB compliant) - DVI - Tuner Module, Plug & Play - High contrast and energy saving display (OLED) - 64 MByte Flash, 256 MByte RAM - SATA - for use either as internal HDD 2,5“ or eSATA - 10/100Mbit Ethernet Interface - 1 x Smartcard-Reader (Dreamcrypt) - 2 x USB2.0 - V.24/RS232 - Scart - S/PDIF for digital bit stream out (optical) - Unlimited channel lists for TV/Radio - Channel-change time < 1 second - Supports EPG (electronic program guide) - Full automatic service scan - Supports directly bouquet-lists - Supports videotext decoding - Supports multiple LNB-Switching control (DiSEqC) - OSD in many languages - Skin-support - External 12V power supply

to me the 500hd has a better prosser like the one in the 8000 also dose full 1080 upscaling

The TM600 will be out before these and that is going to be a big hitter due to the price tag. around ?189.

Dont know if the specs are similar or not but for some the specs dont matter.

Read the Rules here; they apply to Everyone.

I wouldnt have any idea on where to buy one from though! That receiver may have came from the UK, and the UK seller probably got it from China. €220 is a bit much, unless you got it a while back. You can now get the (illegal) clones for roughly $240 now
