Hi I have this problem to, but sometimes if I go to a free HD channel which I can see no problem say bbc1 hd then switch to another HD channel it sees it ok. It dosent always work though. I think I need to mod my tuner. Does anyone know wheather this should be a warranty repair it is a clone but bought from a reputable supplier in December?

never thought of that mate (warranty) , might be worth sending an email , failing that the C1 cap change is pretty straight forward , never tried the q1 q2 q3 as didnt need to and didn`t fancy it as there bloody tiny , your December box is probably rev k tuner , same as mine therefore c1 change should fix it ,
i am doing one at the weekend , so could take some detailed pics for you if you wish

Thanks Southpaw, I am pretty handy with a soldering iron so I will give it a go, I will check with the warranty first though. The picture in this thread looks clear enough but it wouldnt hurt to have more, Cheers.

No responce back from the supplier (which I am surprised about) so it looks like I will mod it myself. I have been looking on Fleabay for a capacitor I can get 6 for around ?2.00. Southpaw how big should they be? Just check though and mines a rev J? I will have a google for J repairs but if anyone has info pictures please post.

dont worry about size mate , the spec of the cap is the important detail ,

Thanks southpaw I have replied. I have found a mod for the J it only requires an extra capacitor so its worth a shot I will keep you posted once I buy one and try it.

It worked, I now get all HD channels I go on! The only difference is I fitted a 1000uF 16v not a 680uF as the picture showed.

Thankyou, it makes it so much easier to understand when you can see pictures.

Is it normal for the componets on the tuner to touch the heat sink on the cpu (clone box not original). I think that is why one of the cap has dropped of my board. I have a Rev J board.
