maybe you overwrite the bootloader when flashing with a image if you bought box as bl76 gemini 5.0 it must be does it have gold sticker with sim 2.01 underneath and did it say latest l3 tuner when you purchased if so you def overwrite the bootloader you must use patched images for you box version

bubbles69 it has the gold sticker sim 2.01 but only K3 tuner. is it possible to get back to bl76 is there any advantage by having the latest BL or stick with bl72?

If it has k3 tuner from factory, there is not way it was bl76 where did you get it from?

I bought it from China. better not say exactly where but this was in the opening line of the advert 76 BOOTLOADER SIM2.01 as i say i have checked the sim it is deffo 2.01 with K tuner

Sorry to say m8 the internals are outdated New version dm800 comes with L3 tuner and and BL76 Gemini 5 you must contact seller for replacement.

I would think i have more chance of winning the lottery than getting a replacement. You pays your money you takes your chance i suppose. It was the cheapest i could find on the net so it serves me right.

I must admit that during our post the more i am thinking about it it does explain why i was having trouble loading some of the newer images. I suppose as its up and running i will use it for a bit then look to upgrade to a newer verison if i can't live with the nabilo image not that there is anything wrong with the image.

then telnet with this command

ipkg list | grep second

it will tell you that you have BL76

davvo, excuse my ignorance but what will this achive. Will it just confirm that i was sold a lesser spec DM or will it give me bl76.

and you have BL72

then install whats on page 1

with this img BL70 BL72 BL76 all works the same

your not missing out on anything

Cheers davvo i think your right i would like to try dreamlite 1.3.3 thats how this thread started. one last question if i may do i have to use Dreamup or can i quick flash by putting the ip addy into mozilla. thanks for your help.

you need to use dreamup
tick use network takes 2 mins
dont reboot
then flash BL70

cuz if you use mozilla you will lose ip for 2nd flash

davvo, will it only take two mins if i use RS232 if so thats why i dont like using dream up. in the past RS connection takes ages.

use both null modem and network cables
tick use network
null modem cable will just id the box
it will take 2 mins

the reason you have to use dreamup is
you need to flash the BL70
without rebooting the dm800
dreamup will keep the ip that it is using alive

it is possible to upgrade bl 72 to 76 on sim 2.01 , i am running 76 now , and was 72 when purchased in November,
think i upgraded from 72 to 75 using a blackhole image , will double check and reply later
