had a look a bit more at this

i have a dm800hd with the alps bsbe2 tuner using usuals i have a motorised system and can recieve all sats from 30w to 42 east bbc1 on 28.2 is 100% but Sky comedy is 84% the problem is the channels that are 84% and there about are breaking up i did think it was hd channels at first but the problem seems to be with the low snr the ecm times are 0.602 other channels with higher snr are perfect
i have been on positioner set up and cant increase the signal any more

could any one suggest how to fix this

Your ecm times are to high, for uk channels, if it's your own card then your internal lan is not very good, and if you pay for it then iv'e got no sympathy for you, because that is pretty much standard payserver crap.

Yes your ECM times are terrible that is your problem, you need to get 0.119 to 0.200 to get a glitch free anything over 0.300 will glitch and you getting 0.602 is very very bad

I'm getting massive differences in SNR on 28.2e e.g. bbc1 getting about 90% SNR but for S_Sports 1 typically low 70s.

Levels were generally in the high 90s across the board until a few weeks ago when the gale force winds we had up north sent the dish pointing to Hong Kong.

Got up the ladder and moved the dish to get a picture on screen. I dare say it needs tweaking still. Getting 90% SNR on 0.8w for BBC World News, so I was expecting higher figures on 28.2e

I will have to look at the ecm as suggested above as this could be the root cause.

Anyway back to the HD glitching. Most HD were fine for me initially with the exception of the S_Sports channels. Found that if the SNR on the sport channels stayed above 70 the picture was glitch free.

However when looking at the particular transponder in Satfinder the SNR levels were up and down like a bride's nightie. Hence there was glitching say every minute or so.

For some reason S_Sports 1 was worse than the others with not just the odd glitch but the screen almost blacking out completely every so often. Totally unwatchable.

Read on this board about the in-line amp. So Had a choice - go out in the cold, up the ladder and tweak the dish or jump on ebay and get an amp for about ?3-50. Hate the cold so bought an amp (13-18db slope). Bought last Tues and by Thurs morning was watching glitch free HD on all channels.

SNR on some sports channels are just below 70 but still the picture is spot on and glitch free.

There seems to be two schools of thought as to where to place the amp, at receiver end or close to the LNB. Mine is indoors at the receiver end.

Will try at the other end or tweaking the dish when it warms up but at the moment I've got no complaints.

ok guys just to clarify the ecm time i told you was the worst channel
since then i have checked ecm times and can confirm there between 0.100 and 0.300

i also told you about the snr heres what i done
i have changed my longitude setting by o.2 up or down theres a giude http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...te-dish-11239/
and can now confirm my snr is great with no freezing and no hd glitching its true what they say about my glitch free tuner after all
in some cases its easy to blame the box
is it a glitch is it signal is it overheating is it ecm times check all these out first
and thanks for all your help

Hey all, wondered if anyone can advise me?
                      I have a DM800 with L3 tuner on a zone 1 $ky dish. Stats are:

                      1. Box is never hot and just to make sure I have a laptop cooler
                      2. SNR on SD channels is mid to high 80's and on HD channels is low to mid 70's
                      3. My ECM times are always below 0.200, usually about 0.185

I regularly get glitching on SS1 HD, ESPN HD, Channel 4 HD etc.

I have tried an in line amp, telnet, various images etc and nothing has worked.

Its starting to bug me a bit now so am considering:

                      1. Upgrading my dish
                      2. Messing on to see if I can improve the SNR by getting the dish aligned
                      3. Changing the tuner for a REV M
                      4. Selling the box and getting a different one

All SD channels are perfect as are most of the HD ones, all except the sports which I watch the most

                      So guys, any recommendations??

To be honest using the rev m tuner won't make your box have signal like the dm800pro as it has mainboard differences. Your best bet is to buy the new version and sell your old version on eBay, this is what I did will save you hundreds throwing money diwn the drain trying different buts n pieces

Well got my vu+ duo box today and low and behold, no glitching at all on any channel!! My SNR has gone up on average by 6% on all channels.

Nothing else in my setup has changed, so defo the dm800, so glad I've changed boxes

Hi All . Keep reading references to DM800pro but how do you tell which version you have - assume we are talking clones here? Thanks for all answers/help.
