I wonder if anybody has tried doing a straight swap with the L3 tuner for the newer rev M tuner and if so with how much success?
Contacted ukdreamshop who suggested selling the L3 version and purchasing the newer pro version with tuner M. The cynic in me says "well they would say that, wouldn't they?".
Is it a straight swap then or as the resellers are claiming there are board compatibility issues?
Cheers,

Thanks for the response. I may follow suit and purchase the M tuner. Are you still using the same fan that came in your box? Have you noticed if it runs any cooler than before?
Can I ask where you got your M tuner from and how much you paid?
Seen them on ebay and ukdreamshop for around 35 to 40 quid.
Cheers.Comment

There is a lot of saying really on forums about this subject, but there are others claming thats it worked very well when they swaped it with the REV:L tuners and previous motherbords.Comment

See jw2000uk's reply above. He did a straight swap without issues it seems.
Bubbles69 is on commission me thinks.
Contacted a supplier asking about compatibility although they never said outright it will not work they seem to be pushing the DM800pro.
"Hi you can buy it won't work like the dm800pro as the pro has mainboard modifications, if you need a better box it's best to eBay your L3 model and purchase the pro,,"
I think it's in the re seller's interest to push a product costing 190 quid rather than folk buying a fix for 40 quid. If the M tuner is not compatible with motherboard of a L tuner why is the same re-seller above selling the M tuner as a standalone product and not offering a supposedly M tuner compatible motherboard?
I'm not saying the DM800pro has not been modified for the better but at the same time the cynic in me (and from jw2000uk's experience above) I doubt the M tuner will not fix issues in an older machine.
Just my two pennies worth.Comment

Im not on commission
, but he does do me a good deal,
It appears the M tuner works with some old mainboards its to do with the voltage output from the mainboard to the tuner,
I my self have the M tuner in a rev j board and the dm800pro although the rev J box dont glitch with the tuner witch is lucky for me i think, it does not get no where near 100% snr like my proComment

I think the important thing here is not to get the 100% SNR but to stop the glitching on certain HD channels on 28.2E like Discovery HD. I have others HD channels on 28.2E with 35 SNR and works perfect.Comment

Yes the inline amp fixes issue with the L3 tuner, but the pro is amazing, i just be told be dave at ukdreamshop that next week they have a new version of the M tuner alps 801A tuner witch will only work with dm800 from june onwards with REV L mainboard... this tuner apparently operates the same as the pro as its compaitable with the board as the current M tuner does not get enough power from some mainboards,, this is what i been told so pls dont ask me any questions about this as all i know is what i been told and wrote above..Comment
