[QUOTE=raidevita;956615]Hi
Wonder if anyone can help. I've just recently bought a dm800 pro
I have it connected to a sky mini dish and virgin broadband. I'm using a netgear router.
Freesat channels are averaging 92% snr but sly channels hd are aprox averaging 71% with a few slightly lower.
Sometimes I can go 20 mins without too much glitching but all of a sudden it starts stuttering and occasionally freezes.
The dish and cable are about 8 years old and havnt seen any use for a while.
I've read on here about my box being glitch free.
What's the problem with mine then? Is it the dish and cable?
Or my Internet set up?
Hi raidevita Not that I'm an expert but I would say you need to look at your dish set-up as most people are saying they get 99-100% with the 800 pro as it should be fitted with the "M" tuner
Best wishesComment

Sorry bubbles69 can't agree there mate - he's saying he only has 71% signal (from a pro which should have the "M" tuner??) so surely he needs to start at the dish and get upto the 100% mark everybody is saying doesn't he? Mind you I'm certainly no expert so maybe your right

I've just had my dish and LNb changed. The cable was left as the sat guy thought it was okay.
My snr levels are only a tad higher on hd channels.
Sky sports 1 hd 81%. Espn 93%,
Hd channels are now ranging grom 71% snr to 93%
none of them hitting 100%.
Kids channels sd are only hitting 56% to 65%
although cinemagic hd is at 93%.
Movie hd channels mostly hitting about 68%!
People are saying that the pro with the m tuner shud be hitting
100%. But I'm nowhere near on my channels.
Have I had the wrong dish and LNb put up??
The guy that installed my new dish and LNb does alot of work for sky so basically told me what he put up wud be okay for me. So I trusted him.
The LNb says sky on it and the dish is oval shaped about the same size as the sky mini dish I had before.
What do you guys suggest??

From what i have read so far it seems that you need to fine set your dish in tuner configuarations, setting your longitude a step at a time + or - 100 until you reach a peak and lower or higher your step to about 50 until you reach your max if you want to be precise, i would try that to see if that will make a difference :-) .....

maybe your box isnt a pro afterall, or hasnt got the rev m tuner, i like many others also get 100% snr on the hd channels, is there any chance you could have been ripped off from your box supplier, or can you confirm you do in fact have a rev m tuner inside your box???Comment

The guy i bought it from said it was a pro with the latest tuner.
My brother has sky hd installed and I tested it round his before I started having problems and changed my dish.
I was getting higher figures round his. What size dish do you need to hit 100%?
What dishes do you guys have?
I didn't change the cable as the installer said it shud be okay.
Wud changing the cable make a difference?
If the LNb and dish are cheap/standard wud that affect my snr levels?
How do I check if it's an m tuner?Comment

Hi raidevita Don't know if this helps but the one I've just bought says: BSBE2-801A (which is meant to be the "M" version) the one in my other 800HD is: BSBE2-401A - you maybe able to "peer" through the slats if not undo the four case screws and there's a label on tuner with above - if you want to compare Goggle (or whatever search engine you use!!) and compare pictures of what peeps are saying/selling. I would suggest that if you are using a Sly dish and only getting 50 - 70%ish then you need a bigger dish - me I'm right down on the middle of south coast (UK) and have got 1x 90cm multi LNB fixed dish, 1x 90cm full motorised and 1.2cm prime focus motorised dish - but then I get 95 - 100% signal on all systems!!! Was the guy you purchased from near to you? - if so see if he will let you "plug into" his system and show you the 100% - if not got any mates with bigger/better dishes to see what it does on theirs!!!The guy i bought it from said it was a pro with the latest tuner.

Thanks for the reply.
I tested the box on my brothers sky hd set up.
His snr figures are higher than mine averaging around the 85 to 80 snr. Box still stuttered round his though.
When my new dish was installed the guy didn't spend anytime checking or tweaking the signal. He had a sat finder which he used to tweak the dish/LNb. He didn't fine tune or anything. Was he supposed to??
Didn't change the cable either. Hd reckons it was okay even though it's 9 years old and not been used for years.
Shudnt I be getting at least the same snr figures as my brothers set up? My dish according to the bloke who fitted it is the same as what sky use? He does do sky installation contracts.
My dish is a zone 1 dish whatever that means.
I've noticed that over the last couple of days the fan has been coming on a permanent basis. When it does the box starts to glitch or stutter. The guy I bought it from reckons it cud be drawing too much power. What does that mean? How do I stop that exactly? Is it worth disconnecting the fan and adding a USB cooler instead? Is the fan using too much power combined with the usual power usage, hence causing
stuttering?
Doe I really need over 90% or 100% to get the best from this box? Isn't anything over 70% supposed to be okay?
Any advice wud be great.Comment
