ok - I've plugged it in but now it's constantly on - is there some software/plugin that only makes it kick in when it needs to?
thanks
Hi,
I hope you have placed the FAN and screwed on top of the processor chip.
Long hours of use may show the tuner unit becoming warmer when you touch with your fingers, a note book cooler unit is available on the market. This is a great help.
To note that countries near the equator ( 25* up or down) ,it is normal to experience
a bit of"heat" around processor and tuner unit.
yep - the fan sits on the CPU. The heatsink is slightly off one corner but as its glued on I can't change it now
I had hoped the fan would cure the issue I was getting with the box not showing via DVI/HDMI at random times (although working on SCART) but the problem has returned today. I think it might be my LG TV!!
After testing Best method I found for external fan was sitting on top , also check which way round it is as one side will suck and the other will blow , best to have the fan exhausting the heat , therefore the suck side needs to be flat against the dreambox sitting on top of as it's easier to push the hot air away than if it was trapped underneath
just put the fan on top of box, air blowing into the air vents, i find this much better,
I find this does the job well, dont need 2 fans, makes more noise, this cools it great and cant hear it at all, and you can snap off the blue led if dont like it
[QUOTE=dctyper;1220735]the box runs fine without a fan, early models didnt have one.
just wondering do the clones run hotter then the originals, cause we know they didnt have a fan, clones do seem to run hot, wondering how they compare to a original ?
