    motor stuck - tm2600??

on the receiver if i send the motor to a sat it trys to move, sort of jerks, but doesnt move!
if i press the manual button it moves fine,
and on the receiver if i tell it to motor to go to 0degrees it does!

    does it sound faulty?

    only got it yesterday!

setting this up is really f**in me off!

what box are you using? try starting from scratch by doing a factory reset and then re-flash your box. now re-enter your lat/long details and then tell the motor to go to thor6/int 10.02@ 0.8/1w and the motor has only a very small amount to move from zero. when you have peaked your signal on 1west then try 42e and 30w and the motor should move. regards mdt

no harm in trying as a re-flash can cure all manner of faults with a dm500/linux stb. regards mdt

Yh mtd is right, reflash box. I was left a bit perplexed when I had my sat dish installed. Motor would not move east past 28.2e, I messed around with setting before install and somehow locked the motor movement. Manually it would move but not through the receiver.

Always, always check connection, if that does not solve problem then REFLASH before declaring product not working and pondering whether to send product back. Lesson which I learnt. Saves alot of f-ing time.

            i've flashed it twice,
it moved east to 19.2 through the sat box,
but i tried to make it move west but would get to 0degree, sort of jerk and stay there!
on the satbox if i press the button (holding it down) to make the motor move east/west it works.

i think it could be faulty, so might go to the shop and get it replaced tommorow, obviously got the warranty.
            maybe i could be wrong!

i had this on my first motor install, i know it sounds a daft thing to say,but my cable get getting caught goiung west, diodn;t have enough flex on it, and it eased out of f-connecter, when i went east it moved back in,.. and was able to move again, so simple but had me stumped for a while...

i havent been back to the shop to return the motor,
cause i want to be 100% sure that its the motor!
anyways, i changed the f connectors,
and made sure its been done properly!
dont think i did it right the first time around!
i thought let me try to connect to thor,
so i positioned the sat to approx due south then i pressed the manual button on the motor to make it go to approx 0.8w the i got the sat meter out and believe it or not i've managed to allign the dish to get thor 0.8w,
on bbc news world, i got 95%snr, 90% agc and 0% ber.

now when i go onto setup in on the pli image and tell the satellite to drive to 28.2e (for example) it just goes to zero and stops, you think its a faulty motor? i think it is.

it just seems to go to 0degrees and stops.

by the way could it be the fact that i've got a dm500s which could mean i would have to manually put in each sat then tell the motor to go to the stored sat for it to work?

as to your motor problem it sounds more like a problem in the stb as those motors are pretty reliable and DMs have a rep for being iffy with motors, any chance of swapping it for another box just to try it.also you need to align the dish to thor by moveing the whole assembly after sending the motor to what it thinks is 1W via the stb(if using usals),finding the sat by the manual button will only give you that 1 sat the second you send it elseware you will lose everything and will only find 1W again by the manual button on the motor or the "move"function in the motorised setting menu of your box.you can use diseqc 1.2 to store your sats but it can take a lot of time as you have to find each sat individually then store the position making sure you have an active TP set for each sat you want, far far easier to use usals.

You need to set up either using usals, or diseqc.
If using diseqc you will need to save each sat position as you scan it.
If using usals, enter long/lat and set up on say 1w bbcworld and if alligned correct will find all sats after that.

i've basically alligned to thor 0.8w,
then when i put in latitude and longitude and told it to swing over to 28.2 for example it just goes to 0degrees, jerks and stops.

so what i've done is unticked gotoxxxfunction
go on the next page, highlight whichever sat for example astra 28.2e and then in directions tab i press the button to go east on the motor till the snr goes into the 90s, do a transponder search and then it locks, i get the chanels on from there onwards, and just make sure i store the sat.
im basically manually doing it through the receiver,
since doing it this way, the motor seems to go to each satellite without no problem.
i've managed to get 0.8w thor, astra 28.2e, astra 19.2e, hotbird 13e, and sirius.
i just need to find the rest of the sats the same way, through the remote and receiver.

i think your right, its the stb
i found a tutorial on here dont remember where exactly but it was on here,
the person who made the tutorial was running pli jade3 with a dm500s, exactly like me!
anyways he basically says hes not managed to get it to work with the lat/longitude,
so he advices to follow what i did above.

hope what im trying to say makes sense

by the way i was wondering what sats should i try to get?
i got a 90cm solid dish in birmingham!

also wanted to know how can i tell if im picking up all the services on each sat?
for example sirius seems to have less services compared to another sat that i searched.

yeah you seem to be doing ok on diseqc 1.2 some sats you will get over a 1000 channels 13E springs to mind and some you will only pick a handfull up.if you make sure you have an active TP set when you search for sats you will be fine try this list of mine.its not conclusive but you should get allthose sats ok.check out www.flysat.com for channels.

PS in birmingham when you are on Thor the indicator on the motor itself should point roughly at 1East(notWest) if you find your not tracking the arc.send the dish to 1E via its manual button and re-align on thor6 you will have to store again in that position and re do all the other sats as well.
