2 boxes from one motorised dish

My knowledge of sattelite setup is limited but I am hoping someone can help. I have a Technomate 5400 set up on a motorised dish and all works OK. I have now bought a French TNT Freesat box working on Astra 1 19 east which is pretty basic and does not drive the motorised dish. How can I run both boxes off the same dish? do I need to have a dual LNB and drive dish to Astra 1 with Technomate or can I do this without fitting dual LNB. I would prefer not to have to swap cable from LNB each time I use French TNT box.
    Any ideas please!
    Thanks

    Re: Help

Simple on the technomate use the LNB loop(Satellite cable out of Technomate into your TNT box ,however turn off the Motor Option in the TNT Box or both Boxes will be talking to your Motor

I Have 2 Boxes TM1500 drives the Motor And the Humax gets it Signal via LNB out of TM1500, TO WATCH THE TNT once dish is moved to 19 east put Technomate Box into standby mode

Hi. I think we have a problem here. Problem is that you will only be able to watch TNTSAT when motor is at 19 East. So if you move dish to another satellite its bye bye TNTSAT. You are probably better off if you install a fixed dish pointing at 19 east. But if you are happy using only one dish then do as advised by telveskid, but do not put the TM5400 in standby mode as this will cut off the power supply to the LNB( i also have a TM5400 and tried this setup a couple of years ago and would not work in standby mode. Regards.

if using the"Loop through" method as described by telveskid. box one (your TM 5400) MUST be left on standby when using the other box,if its left fully on you will be restricted to the same polarity and similar frequency that the 1st box is on.if its turned off at mains 2nd box will not work.
you can also get A/B switches where the coax signal is split to either box A or B you could then keep your single LNB and box 1 could be off at the mains after sending the motor to 19.2E

the other way if you only want the one dish is as you said replace the single lnb with a twin output one and run the 2nd cable straight to the TNTbox and you can switch your TM5400 right off at the mains once you have sent the dish to 19.2E.

Hi. When i put my TM5400 in standby mode the motor and LNB do not work. So if as you say by using a loopthrough cable to the TNT box where does the LNB get its power from as its not directly connected to the TNT box?? I think your option of a dual LNB output sounds a better idea although you wont be able to use the motor for other satellites. Regards.

well I daisy chain 3boxes via loopthrough and if box 1 is on it controls the motor fully and if box1 is on standby and box2 on box2 has full control of the motor. and if both box1&box2 are on standby and box 3on that has full control. LNB power is supplied by the box that is on.

              Hi

I am still having a few problems with the setup. I have connected the TNT box via the Loop through on the Technomate and I get a message on the TNT box "Antenna Overcurrent" Any ideas as to what this means?

Hi. Try to put the LNB cable from dish to the TM and see if you get channels working ok. Then put the LNB cable to your TNT box and see if you get pictures. If you get pictures from both then you may have a problem with the loop through. Regards.

check your flylead is not shorting out(no loose strands of the screen wire touching the central electrode.)

                      Hi
I will check the flylead to see if there are any issues.

                      Many thanks

                        Normally means a short circuit.

If he had a fixed dish to 19.2e,how would he set them all up as am planning to do same in the future...thanks.

Hi. If you are going to have two boxes its easy, connect one dish to box one and second dish to box two. If you want to connect two dishes to one box then i believe you will need a Diseqc switch. I used a diseqc switch with 3 LNB's on a TM5400 a few years ago and worked great but i installed a motor last year to give me more satellites. Not familiar with your TM5402 so not sure how you would set it up
                              Regards..
