    hello mate
I"ve got one of those boxes and its great to start out on, its a good price because they are now an older model and(nearly)everyone wants to go down the LINUX operating route.but I prefer to keep it simple and shall stick to my TMs. you will get a lot of advice from others regarding the pros of linux boxes but its up to you what you want to do.
any advice on the TM6800 just ask.

      tm

i think the linux route is going to be the way to go, but theres a big learning curve and it is not going to happen overnight, the tm 6800 looks to be a good starting point to get familar with the sat setup .what kind of channels to u get with the 6800 i like the history, discovery, nat geo type channels and comedy and some films are these obtainable if not what can i expect thanks for your reply

Maybe 2 weeks and digi tv gone, nothing else worth opening and these boxes will be dead unless you have a card or view fta channels.

fearono has it right on the button but as I"m a channel hopping adict and there are hundreds of foreign FTA channels on the various sats as I said I"ll stick to the std boxes.all of the progs you want are still available with patch and softcam on 1West but as stated will be changing to a more secure encryption soon so dont buy a TM std box on that basis (they do linux boxes as well)

I know nothing about the linux operating system but there are plenty on this site that do.all I can tell you is there is a bit more to it than patching.

It is not patching at all. You can use keys like tm1000 etc but to get others you will need to go another route which we cannot talk about here.

would u load the software from the technomate site for the 600 and then use a diablo cam? would that open things up or would that be the card share route 2
