They are ready now from some suppliers. We have an option to take a batch of them right now.... I've chosen not to to be honest, I just don't feel the software in it's current state is something we should be selling.... I know some will say they are a linux box etc. etc. and development can be helped along by releasing, but personally I'm still not happy to send these out to our customers yet, so I'll be hanging off a bit and see how the software develops, it's all well and good sending out now but we have to provide a guarantee with these things and they should be 'fit for purpose' and I'm still not convinced with the current software that they are.

VU+ SOLO should be here in a couple of weeks, for me this will be the one to look out for.... As always though just my own personal take on things.

Available now, I would personally wait to it works though.
Has been released imo ready or not for the world cup.
Lots of bugs still, upto the other day I understand the HDMI wasn't working, not good in a HD stb .
I believe it's a functional stb now with a few bugs that need ironing out. As certain functions are buggy they ahve been disarmed untill the correct working image is released.

I have been hanging on for one of these boxes as I am really impressed with the 500. I am more than happy to wait a bit longer until the software is right. No point rushing it if the basics like HDMI aren't working on a HD box.

              Ah, the beauty!

              Got my TM 800HD today.
Took me 30 minutes to have it all set up, most of it spent with the Disecq settings and satellite scanning.
Watched the Cameroon vs Denmark game on Das Erste HD. Even my completely non-technical wife agreed that the quality is amazing, after I flicked between SD and HD versions of the channel.

The software is lacking major features, it only has the minimum stuff. No web interface, no built-in services, PVR doesn't work (I formatted the internal HDD using the command line).

But it worked great for what I wanted: the game looked amazing!

                  Hi

I have had my TM800 for a couple of weeks. Yes it is true to say that it is limited at the moment, but for an enthusiast what a time to buy. Get in at the beginning and learn all there is to know, but i suppose most people want plug and play, unless you just want to watch the very good HD channels dont bother. Just a point i started with humax and jumped about to various boxes and tryed the technomates, up to this point they have never let me down. I am looking forward to testing and the updates to follow. "now i dont work for them". I think this is my first post on here hello everyone.

                  Thanks

after all the delays from technomate with this model
it's not done them any good and putting on the market
before they got it sorted out, there are posts every where
about the problems it's got that need fixing. and i'm sure this
has lost them a lot of sales and if it's not sorted soon other
linux boxes will take there potential customers business

yeah your probably right. I was using tm9100's and got a little sick of re-boot problems, but i did learn a lot while i waqs fixing them. I suppose if i had any advice at all it would be that if your looking for something that is ready to use "keep away from the tm800 for now", but i do like the way that is set up and i cant help but feel excited at the prospect of it been fully funtional. am i crazy or just love messing about i dont know, time will tell

I don't understand all the negativity...
I wish there was a thread where we could post our experiences with this box, good and bad, for the only purpose of sharing the information, not to point fingers or vent frustrations.

Today, I took some time to dig up the insides. One thing that bothered me was the passwordless telnetd. I turned it off in inetd.conf, after making sure that ssh works well.
I was also able to set up passwordless ssh. The home directory for dropbear is no longer under /var/.ssh, it is now under root, /.ssh, and that's where you put the authorized_keys.

I use an old internet tablet, a Nokia 770, to ssh into my Linux receivers for quick fiddling, and I don't want to type passwords all the time.

Does anyone know what's the story with the additional network interfaces? Have you seen the contents of /etc/hosts? netstat? This is very strange stuff...

This what you get when you take on board some other companies receiver and re-brand it as your own, Itgate who are making this receiver have less to lose than Technomate, why on earth have Technomate / Clark-Tech dumped what they were good at making Good functioning receivers and bought into Re-branding Itgate receivers as Technomates ? Just because they are Ip receivers.

Surly after years of making some of the best receivers on the market they could have developed this themselves, and payed for the software if needs be, Most people looking to buy a IP receiver for 250+ quid will look at the Dreambox 500HD- 800HD clone- or the soon to be released vu+ solo before considering this particular receiver.

In the Days of EMU / keys Tchnomate receivers rocked, now they are wrecking there branding with this itgate / technomate hybrid Korean crap and they can not even keep there troubles quiet, as every forum has the News of the Technomates woos.

Valid points mate. But joypad is right for those of us lucky enough to have or unlucky, depending on your view we should pool info. Just like the days when nobody had heard of null modem patching key changes and the like. Now you can go to any forum read the how to and your away within the hour. The development of this box could be great. I have spoken to technomate on many occassions on various topics always helpful. Lets wait and see

                            thanks

                              tm 800hd

In my previous posts i championed technomate for the new 800HD box, then i read the posts freom people who were negative about the delays and the lack of functionality on this box. I can tell you now having tested this box for a few weeks it is a gud un;. Here is why!

I can remember the first time i saw picture in picture on a TV, you know, watch one channel and have another in the corner of the screen. I thought it was great. My point is, how many people after using it a couple of times, use it regularly now, practically none i bet.

Well the same with the TM800 HD. It has gadgets that are not fully functional yet, some you may use regular others possibly not. But there is no denying that this box, provides you with exceptional pictures HD and standard. it is different to load from other linux boxes, but it ZAPS fast, clears almost instantly.

I would score this box 8 out of 10. If all you want to do is watch TV with good pictures and flick channels as fast as you want without having to restart your box frequently, and dont mind paying the money, look no further

I used PLI image to Flash and filezilla to FTP the box.

Hope this helps some of you that cant make up your minds. Just remember this box will only get better as the functions become usable through the software updates.

It was touch and go for a while, but again technomate have my vote.

                              Regards

I had my box for 4 days till it died i would not recommend this box to any one its a million miles from being a finished box and the dev support is dire from technomate!!!!!

And pli don't support technomate tm800.

One day it could be a cracking box but there are to many great boxes to buy today that outshine the tm800.
