    loading images

    just a quick one lads/lasses
vu duo just arrived and i've been messing with certain images.
problem i have is certain images(vix etc)load ok via usb but i,m wanting to try the blackhole/pole images as i prefer these having used on my DM800 but for some reason they won't load off the usb,the vu just goes through the start up mode,so is it corrupt firmware or dodgy usb stick or am i missing something totaly different.
    thanks in advance

    ps its a genuine box

If your using the same usb stick to load vix on it and it works, must be a dodgy firmware m8, download it from another source, are you formatting the stick also before loading a new image on it ?

Are you using BH image for the duo. Easy to mix files up when you want to try new images.

ok i have tried at least five different images and numerous usb sticks and it still wont flash,vu boots shows usb reading for about a second then proceeds to start up,also tried different usb ports and still the same.red else where that these boxes are very picky when it comes to usb sticks, possible???also tried factory reset but still no joy.open to all advice!!!!

              Hi Mark36,

My box does exactly that when I forget to take out the USB stick I have in the rear oF the box for picons and EPG data, do you have a similar setup? The box won't flash unless there's only one USB stick inserted, and I believe it has to be via the USB port on the front of the box.

you can use any USB port to flash the receiver i usually just FTP into my DUO with the USB stick in the rear of the box containing picons etc, drop the image on there and do a telnet reboot ( shutdown -r now ). once it's done i pull the stick remove the image files, out it back in the box and reboot. never fails for me. and yes you must remove all other USB devices prior to flashing including USB HDD's.

I have read that I have to " flash my kernal " before I flash the image ? How do I do this ? Do I have to do anything with bootloader ?

I have the latest Vix image on a USB stick . I have a genuine Ultimo box.

The kernel is part of the image it self. all you need to do is flash the latest image ( build 268 or 275 ). be aware though as these images use the latest drivers you must also flash the FPGA update as this is a critical update for the tuner cards.
