Vu+ driver updates safe for clones?

They do work but you must run them through meoboot - which means you will need Blackhole 1.7.5 or lower installed in flash.

Only the latest BH 1.7.6 is not fully functional but it does boot.
I have found VTi and VIX images with driver updates are working fine in meoboot.

Everybody, there will be a new IC update by Ferrari team around end of august
For now use version and build prior to the new driver update
So vix 2.4 until build 155 and BH 1.7.5

Correct but also do not forget you will need the IC security update board to do this upgrade if you dont own one you cant use the latest images with the new drivers built in, I am pretty sure there are a few clone owners who dont have this board.

Not sure as when i updated mine i already had an old Pentium 4 with XP and a serial port as this was the recommended combination from ferrari forums

i know all there is to know about dreambox and recovering it by com port is this same ?

to recover stuck on starting,booting or red light only etc
it is recommended if you have a hard drive to disconnect it
and take the Ethernet cable out of the box and then re flash
with a earlier image, some say it's taken a few goes to work.
but for me with a clone i would'nt flash any of the latest images
until the IC update has been fixed

What is wrong with using the image that comes pre installed? Is it very old? Can you flash the box over ethernet like the dm500? I have a mac so I have no access to a serial port.

Sorry you cannot flash a Duo Clone or even an original for that matter with just an ethernet cable like you can with the DM's you need a serial port 100%

Yes correct for the image's but not for the Kernel update this has to be done over serial port.
