    solo2 clone

    Hi All,

I'm looking to upgrade from my duo to a solo2 but was looking to try a clone for the first time.

    My questions are:
1: Are they quite a reliable build and quality?
2: Can I load a vix image dated pre December 13 or is there a newer one which is good?
3: Can anyone recommend a good supplier and a rough cost?(in pounds please)

    thanks all

I purchased a solo2 clone in January and its a brilliant machine , 1: Build quality is excellent - internals are spotless, really neat and tidy , everything sturdy as should be. 2: As far as I know any image before 13 December should work BUT - (My clone auto updated by accident in January and installed a post December image with supposed anti clone drivers and it worked fine - which at the time was a mystery to me but it now seems that solo2 v2 clones will take any image new or old and there is also a fix out for solo2 v1 boxes that enables you to update to latest images also - (USB_FPGA_UPDATE ) 3: I purchased from L&W on ALIEX***SS total ?159.25 took around 7 days for delivery by DHL. , At this minute in time I cant fault this clone one bit , everything works as it should - hard drive , usb drive for picons, plugins, epg, The only downfall is the remote controller, it clicks when using and mine is sluggish - sometimes have to press down hard and maybe a couple of times, but all in all im really happy with the box.

I've had mine since around the start of Feb, mine was a v1 but I've since updated it to the v2 firmware so it can run the latest drivers. Mine replaced my Duo clone and has been running faultlessly since I got it. It does everything that the Duo did and more, the more bit is that it can PiP with HD channels and it plays all MKVs that I've chucked at it to date including very high bitrate films without any problems.

Mine cost me around ?155 but I also got stung for ?18 excise duty.

I've been trying a Chinese copy, this one with the X-Chip and not the Ferrari chip and I'm very impressed. It does take the latest un-patched images, tried BH2.0.9 with online upgrade to 2.0.9.1 and OpenViX Zeus 003 with online upgrade to 005. It seems faster than the genuine (although I'm sure it isn't). Very stable, good build quality and considerably cheaper than an original box.

thanks for the info lincsat. Should it have a sticker on the box itself saying what chip it has?

Mine had no signs of which chip was inside the box - only when I took the cover off there was a small sticker saying "x chip" on top of the chip.

                        hi lincsat,

just popped the hdd in my solo2 and am now ready to re flash to a vix image. It has the blue X on the chip. I'm gonna try zeus 003 but do you think I would need to upgrade the boot loader file first?

                        cheers

ok guy's here's where the fun starts.

Formatted my memory stick and put the zeus 003 image on it (original download from WOS). Powered off the box, put in the usb in the front port and started the box back up. Got a message on the front saying "update, press power"

did that then the box read the mem stick and booted up into the B/H image.

do you have to do something different to re flash a new image on a clone?

                              help please?

                              cheers
