    Default Dead Skybox F5

After finally getting the box up and running, I went to do a blind satellite scan and apparently the box doesn't like this.

It now wont turn on at all.

I've seen tutorials on how to fix this, but I'm not sure weather to contact the seller or just try this?

    Any help?

    try this m8
my skybox f3 was completely bricked, wouldnt turn on, no power at all. Ive just fixed it using this software which i picked up from another forum. Its similar to another software in this forum that is specific to openbox s9-11. This one definitly works on the f3.

You need a null modem connection. Mine worked on a USB to 9 pin adaptor but some dont, best to use a PC with a dedicated 9 Pin socket

Just unzip the file, Open the folder, then open EromUpgrade.exe.

Make sure box is switched off, then select your port, select your firmware image and tick the checkbox for include bootloader.

Press next, then switch on your box and follow the on screen procedures

If under warranty return to seller shouldn't brick just because you did a blind scan.

Better not with a cline in it.

You will need a null modem cable then follow this recovery guide.
Also if you don't have serial port on your pc you will have to get a USB Serial converter, I would recommend HL-340 it supports WinXP, Vista and Win7 32 bit.

Thanks. Is it important to have the full handshaking feature, does this usb serial converter have this function?

    Would this be alright?

Should be fine and when using the recovery software remember to tick the include boot loader option.

Hi, My mates skybox f5 is stuck on the boot load. count's up to 100 the stops and displays l100 on the face. has anyone has this problem. I don't think i can do the recovery with the null cable as the f5 doesn't have a power button on the box and as soon as you plug the power lead it tries to boot. Any help would be gratefully received.

If you are using a USB to RS232 converter, then it plugs into the USB port of your pc/laptop to convert it to a RS232 port. You then use a null modem cable to connect from the adapter to the RS232 port on the skybox.
