Sorry to hijack tread but i had similar issues a few days ago and dont have to much experience with this type of immo system. Elv stuck in open position and bloked the engine start, i managed to make immo off so the guy can drive his car. And i did read that a new elv has to be buyed, why can not a used one be made virgin ? Thats my question? And i didnt open it to se what type of memory it has, but i did found in avdi dump tool that there is 908 motorola ? So can it be done or not ?

    Thanks

Well, that sound OK for me but the ESL locked itself after a minute and now it blocks the power supply wit key in ignition - terminal 15 and I cannot comunicate with the immo unit . Is there any goaround ?

Internally THERE is motorola MC68HC908AZ32 mask 4L52H in 64pin QFP FYI

    Hello.
    1) write original dump in comfort module & after you need to wake the CAN Bus, try matching with the 4-way flashers turned on and the high beam held back in the flash-to-pass position to have communication with immo by obd2.and when u get the communication try re adapt the new (ELV)
    2) many years ago done with me used ELV by disolder (68hc908) from original to new used, but never i try in (brand new).

    Not necessary put pin ,
same thing in Mk4 cluster , Ross-Tech and everyone was telling for MK4 NEW cluster need to enter Pin, but it does not need.
You can test this with Mk4 cluster , make it Virgin and go straight to ch 50 , you will see it does not need pin.
    Audi Rb4 Immo 3 , Audi A6 C5 immo 3 same thing.

It may unlock when time goes out.
By pressing Brake pedal for 30 sec and have hazards on all time , you can wake up Can Bus and you can access 25-immobilizer .

    Hello.
OK your answer right.but i never see Ross-Tech telling about golf 4 new cluster need pin code in ascces-16, he show us direct to Chanel 50, but the procedure by use pin in (access 16) is not wrong for passat comfort,so all here in DK we know this channels how use it,any way i accept your idea.

YEs man, this worked for me. It seems like I made a bad sequence ans the ESL locked itself.
After batt conection and wake up the GW the car seems to have no power but it has at least IMMO unit. It is acessible via VAG and this procedure worked fine > http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?784#post5511

Did not need to open/disassemble the ESL unit, fortunatelly. The cost of this is 90EUR now, so it is not worth of any risk with its repairs.
