Hi i will try to help you,i would like to be help (in the past and now cause i have problem too with this decoder....) so i'm happy to try with you.
So first able could you give to me what is the problem?
Do you have the number HW in the program?
If you don't have it,it is ,may-be, that when you program the ft232rl you don't change the pid.
i explain, when you program the ft232rl with the one given by "ottocheck" the pid given inside is "1967" (it is product id).
Product id "1967" is unrecognized by software you have to change pid 1967 by pid 6001 because pid 6001 is recognized like product from FTDI.
So in an original FT232RL software you have VENDOR ID 0403 and PRODUCT ID 6001 after programming with ottocheck you will have: VENDOR ID 0403 (THAT'S OK) BUT PRODUCT ID 1967 (THAT IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY WINDOW)!
You need to change the PRODUCT ID 1967 in PRODUCT ID 6001.
In ubuntu it is explain here: http://www.m0yom.co.uk/ftdi-serial-killer-quite/
    and here: http://www.minipwner.com/index.php/unbrickftdi000
I use the second one it is simple with ubuntu.....why i say that because i have done it and i'm very very bad in pc use.
If you are good in electronics i need your help now because i have virginized three iaw59f and even transform a M3 in M2 it is actually inside my car but i cannot use my 59 f decoder why???? i don't know.
    Best regards.

Louis12 you got everything here page 8 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ex-files/page8) given by CALISKAN71 (best of the best) you got link the only thing missing is drill file so like me read read and read this forum you will find everything to build a 59f decoder.
For build it you have to make the pcb: Chinese to that for 1 euro/pcb and about 25 euros for shipping (in my case 5 pcb mini) google is your friend....
After that you had to sold your ft232rl on the pcb board (be careful cause there is fake ft232rl sell in Chinese market).
After sold your ft232rl you need a driver for it (go to the site of ftdi) xp driver or seven driver......you pc need to recognize the ft232rl .
After that you need to program the ft232rl with mprog3.5 (from FTDI) and don't forgot to rename the id product in 06001 NOT 1967 because it will not be recognize by the driver (pid 06001 is FTDI product but pid 1967 ????)
After prog the pic 16f876 with pickit2 very easy i done it so everyone can do.
After that carefully sold every component on the pcb and try.
BUT BE CAREFUL CAUSE PCB IS LITTLE AND A LOT OF COMPONENT SO IT IS EASY TO DO A BAD SOLDERING.
    good luck best regards.

    hello friends

I'm doing this circuit but I'm not good at soldering the small components so I do it in classic components.
I bought the ft232rl soldered on a little pcb l have pin rx, tx , gnd, for the 3.3v i take it on the jumper
l use ftdi driver and programmed with mprog 3.5 , code 6001.
l programmed the pic with pickit 2
the circuit doesn't work , just one time m tuning software saw ft232r usb uart

otherwise I still have the same error message
INTERFACCIA NON COLLEGATA O NON RICONOSCIUTA CHIUDETE IL PROGRAMMA E SCOLLEGATE E RICOLLEGATE

I have watched many times the schema and my circuit, I can not find the problem

    thanks for your help

    Hi Eric (from Paris ?)
Well i just have repair my 59f decoder 3 month because of a bad usb cable !!
And now i just have virginized 10 ecu (M2,M3 and M7 from fiat seicento).
What i can say it is functional but be careful about few things.
    1) when you put the hex fill inside the pic 16F876 with pickit 2 you should have this result "warning hex file loaded is larger than the device" IT IS NORMAL so dont worry it happen to me but everything functional after that.
    2) take care about where you buy your FT232RL a lot of fake in chinese market
    3) Allways change (like you have done the pid 1967 for pid 6001) the number of pid for 6001 NOT 1967 because window driver is for ftdi component (vid 0403) and product ft232rl (pid 6001) THE PID 1967 IS UNKNOWN FOR THE FTDI DRIVER .
4)don't forget that the ecu number 59f hw002 m2 don't work in the last software with window xp sp2 but may be with window seven.
Just say to me the process and what window do you have?
what driver for ft232rl you use?
what was the message after programming the pic16f876?

Have you check the usb cable because for me it was the problem.
    Best regards

l use ftdi drivers with id 6001
just one time the soft saw the ft 232 rl but not the ecu

    i use xp pro sp3 on dell p4 3.2ghz

good idea the usb cable l ll test an other, i test an other nothing change

in the folder they is 3 program what is the best ?

    for my test l have a ecu iaw 59f m3 hw 003

Hi how do you have rename the pid inside the ft232rl ?
    With the software mprog3.5 ?
Or have you rename it inside the .bin given by otocheck AND THEN injected through the software mprog3.5 ?
The second way is a bad way (for my experience) just inject the .bin given and then use the software to change the pid.
For me your ft232rl have no program inside, you should look again and test it.
    Good luck.

Hi again for me you MAY NOT have program your ft232rl because instead of ftdi you should have Magneti-Marelli with vid 0403 and pid 6001.
So you have to PUT INSIDE your ft232rl the "232RL.EPT" GIVEN BY OTOCHECK"
There is two ept the 232BL and the 232RL PUT THE 232RL original with the pid 1967 and then use mprog3.5 to change in 6001 without changing the 232RL.ept given.
    Best regards

Hi, like me before, you should try to build the same has given by otocheck.
You are sure it will be functional.
So first able the number an type of component was given and you should have the same list on your pcb.
look at my pcb you have the exact form and number of component use do the same and for sure it will be functional.
    best regards.

Look at my pcb and do the same it will be ok for sure (made for about 50 /55 euros pcb+components)
You have to put the 12volt and then the usb inside pc and then switch on the software (without 12v it will never be functional and detected).DSCN5812.JPGDSCN5802.JPGDSCN5808.JPGDSCN5808.JPGDSCN5814.JPG
