How to JTAG a DM500

Nevermind it, I've built the cable using a db25 socket and some 100ohm resistors.
My box is a dm500c (cable) clone with NXP (philips?) tuner and JS28F640 chipset.

The DOS flasher wont do right?
Can someone point me to the right bootloader and files?

Sorry, but the DOS flasher (jtagdm500) is only for the satellite and the terrestrial versions of the dm500, not for the cable version. You can try to flash it with this app, but it will upload an incorrect boot to your box (wrong tuner definer code) so the DVB-C tuner of your dreambox won't work.

For the dm500c the only choice is the win utility.

Hello everybody ! Greetings from Romania to all. I am newbie in using Dream, but after an usage of 2 years of my receiver, I found that my box is not an original one, is a clone. This thing made me very angry, but now I have to solve the problem. I will look on posts here, and I hope that I will manage the problem.

The dos programm reports flash intel unknown and stops after 'erase flash done'.
The windows program gives an 'could not determine parallel interface on your pc!' and stops.

All this on vista. If I try XP will it make any difference?

Now i was hoping some one might know of alternate points to connect the jatg to so it can be flashed

Try to use windows verison of Jtag!

There is the answer for you, from other forum!:
"The clone maker would have routed the other pins out because of R600-R603 pullups but as output pin 20 needs no pullup they probably left it unrouted. In which case you'll be SOL. Even with precise drilling it's near impossible to get at unrouted BGA balls without wrecking the board, because of the power planes.

Dream JTAG won't work without a connection to processor pin 20. I'd say you're stuck with a brick. The only way to save it is probably to desolder and replace the flash memory with a newly programmed chip, which of course requires SMD rework equipment not to mention a fair bit of time. Not economic. Those clones weren't meant to be recovered."

My DM500s can't light green lamp.So I make JTAG and connect succesed.
But 2alps.bat stop process at "Erase Flash done"

Hi all - I have a bricked DM500s and have heard about this MAC generator JTAG utility - just like to thank everyone for their ideas - I will give it a go and will hopefully get it working again.
