How to JTAG a DM500

Well i folowed the guide, created my custom jtag thingy and now im running the ALPS script. It says its downloading but it took 12 hours to get to 60% and its still going..
Any ideas why this is happening? I mean it should take around 10-15 minutes right?

Also is there a commercial ready made jtag connector i could buy?

well did everything according to the guide, flashing took around 22 hours but it finished ok. When i connected the serial though and rebooted the box , i got nothing, no led on and the box would not boot.
Any ideas? Heeeeeeelp please.

Did you have DreamUp connected and running before you started the box.?
You still need to flash an image on it with DreamUp.

If you aint getting an led then the box is dead my man. Try jtag again.

Although this process should not take 22hours mate.

Hello again! I was not able to recover my clone using jtag.
When I use the jtagdm500 (command prompt) the green light goes on, but the program stops after "erase: done".
I was not able to use the windows version (a lot of failed tries!)
My flash is Intel TE28f640.
The jtag length is 10cm.
So! can anyone suggest something?

Hi

I have used the windows program and after a few try I got connection to the box and was able to write a new boot to my DM500. When I used Dreamup to flash a new image to the box it says boxtype 56xx and not 500.
What to do now?

I need to know .I have read that after succsesfully jtaged the dream box the
green light must come on.right ?.My dream box green light always stays on
so no need to jtag my box.but still I cant connect via network to my dreambox what should I do PLEASE HELP !

i have checked the cable everything looks ok , but i got this dreambox 500 from dvb monkey and new out the box it booted up just a black screen , i tried all dream ups and it gets stuck on waiting for reply from box , they told me that they calculated the wrong power for my country , ?? and i have to send the board back to them ,,

sounds like a little lye to me ? or could they be right ,, ? or does it need jtaging , the jtag still doesent connect either with jtag windows , or the dos versions,? heeeeeeeeeeeelp!!

You shouldn't have to Jtag it straight out of the box, if it had an image on it when it arrived it should at least boot up with FTA channels, best send it back if thats what they ask in case you f it up more by messing with it.

I saw a post about having to use the DOS version if I have the JS28F640 version, and I read stuff about linux ways to do it.
Ok, Im running linux now, but what tool do I need next?

I have been trying to Jtag my Dm500 for over a week now and only got lucky once connecting to the box. Unfortunately I got the wrong Blimg and now the box type is Dm56xx. Since then I have tried to get it connected again, wither through Jtag-windows or the batch files in dos command. None has worked yet. Tried all the guides about connecting the power and the connect button on the pc, but none has helped me yet. The cable is less than 10 cm, but I am thinking about making a new one.

Anyone else has some great ideas for me?
