thanks man.. opened my box to take a look but i'm not so technically inclined to solder.
Was touching the two chips with my magnetised screwdriver set and since i can't do anything, just on the set.. then surprisingly it works.

I off the mains yesterday and back to same prob of not being able to boot.

Give up.. time to get another box and make/model

From what u posted, it now back to the Power board, change all the capacitor wont cost more than $5 and it shud worked.

Hv u add 2 cap 100uf to the 1117 3.3v and 1.8v? Usually this may kick boot the box!

The Chinese capacitors r very bad quality always not enuf kick to boot the box that Y it hangs at 'start' but not booting. This is easy, jus change the 5 pc Big capacitors, I shall attach a jpg later to show what I did to the Power board. It looks very layman but s long s it works, i dont complain. My camera battery low, sori. Later pls.

Yes, cardless box r ok but it SW change u may hv to change box if no SW update avlb, whereas with card, u jus change card instead of the whole box. FYHD always hv some chns missing with their cardless model. The earlier model with card, it dont hv this problem. Oh, 1 more thing, many FYHD box wont auto update keys, depends on where the supply comes from. At moment no problem is bcos SH didnt change keys for 25months liao.

See if yr HDMI is working. If HDMI worked.
replace FL128, chip next to the composite connector socket.

If HDMI dont work, something wrong with the Box software. I dont hv the sw so u hv to asked DragonHead.

I went looking for the FL128 chip today and was told not to waste my time. It seems that the component output sockets on my HD800C-II box are dummies and do not output any signal. Is this true?

It isnt a dummy, f... him.
It output for RCA n component. If u used only hdmi, this chip ' may not ' b necesary. If yr box can hv RCA signal but not hdmi, chk hdmi pin connection to mobo. Seems their soldering not good or loose from to much mishandling of the plug/unplging of cable. Use a x15 loop eye glass to inspect the connection.

Hi Jatro,

You're right, f...him! I opened up the box and see the component outputs sockets are soldered onto the circuit board, no dummies.

The situation is this -
HDMI output - ok
Composite output - ok
Component outputs - no signal

I don't see any FL128 chip. Only one MX B101931 chip and one 4588D chip near the sockets. Also a FL12.000 and a FL25.000 (crystal oscillators?). See attached photo.

Update: I tried connecting to the TV again using component. TV screen show "INVALID FORMAT". What does this mean?

MX ( fl128 equivalent) is d video output chip.
4558 is the audio chip.
4get abt crystal as the box boot worked ok.
Wrong video format is color miss match, i guess yrs may b a Samsung TV, pls chk the red, green & blue + audio red& white is connected accordingly.
I think nothing wrong with yr box, it yr conection!!!

Using LG TV. Double checked connections. All correct, but still getting picture flashing on and off on screen plus INVALID FORMAT message. Picture mostly red and green. BOTH my boxes same result. Connection to BR player no problem. Strange. Maybe wrong circuit wiring in boxes? Or maybe LG TVs don't like boxes, haha.

R u using a usb to component/composite adaptor to yr TV?

1 way of getting the correct input to component is (1 at a time) :
Green from box to tv component grenn, the TV show Green picture. (dont connect red and blue)
Blue from box to tv component blue, the TV show Blue picture. ( dont connect Green and red)
lastly, Red from box ( make sure it is not the RED from audio) to TV component red, the TV show Red picture.
If not clearly defined, juz toto luck with each color wire, as there r only 3 wires for 3 color, not much variation needed. Juz try this method, probably u may hv mix up the red with audio RED.

Rest of the boxes not upgradable, i think may be......

Yea, thanks for your help, Jatro. I think it's a common problem with this box model because I have 2 boxes and both show same problem. Time to change boxes when N3 is implemented.
