Guide: Flashing a Dreambox with Dreamup

Great guide, but i'm facing some problems..

do i have to perform flash erase first?
if i do the flash and pick the image the upload fails and i get the message "user aborted" or something similar..

the backup also failed..

any ideas?

you dont have to do a flash erase on a dm500s but i recommend it , if dream up is saying aborted by user etc you need an older version . try the links in my signature area.

i downloaded dreamup 1.2.2 and tried to do a flash multiple times but i get the message

12:16:42 pm ERROR, flash-erase failed, box will be unusable now!!

the same happens with dreamup 1.3.3.6

then i tried to flash with dreamup 1.2.2 but it starts to upload the image, then the speed descreases slowly from 11kb/s at the beggining to 7,6,4 Kb/s and finally i get the message ERROR, upload aborted!

is the box destroed? :/

it sounds like you flashed the wrong image or you never unzipped or unrared the image .i had that message before on a dm7020 and i sorted it by using the correct dreamup for the box and by flashing on a desktop computer using just a null modem cable.you say you flashed multiple times (i assume without erasing the previous flash) im attaching an older version of dreamup for you to use which worked fine for me on a few dm500s.i uploaded to the download section also for anyone else that needs it in the future.

i tried dreamup versions:
1.3.3.6
1.3.2.1
1.3.3.4
1.2.2.0

the version 1.3.2.1 (is the one you attach) worked smoothly without any problems, so is a matter of correct version of dreamup (it's a little bit strange but this is the fact)

your wellcome mate ,i know they say that newer versions of dreamup such as 1.3.3.6 and 1.3.3.5 are universal and so should work on all dreamboxes but in my experience its not the case . if your box is a dm500s use the version i attached above if your box is newer such as the dm500hd or the dm800 (if your going to flash via a null modem cable)use the newer versions or flash via web browser.

the zip file on here has no exe in it what ever i download it as the same name shows up inside the zipfile if

been haveing the same issue on 2 systems that keep saying aborted by user

need to wait 20 mins if it is corect that i have to post in the welcome thread

hope the older version works on here, been driveing me mad this dreambox as its bricked at the moment as the update via FTP is now makeing it reboot all the time (just get the DK logo then it reboots)
