Anyone successfully flashed with an USB-serial adaptor? I've tried using one but can't get it to work. Without dreambox, the drivers installed fine. After running dreamup and clicked on connect, the com port goes intermittent after I switch on the dreambox power.
Tried other versions of dreamup and it's still the same.Comment

going back on a few posts i'm assuming your talking about a sly card, not got one of them got a sub vermin +hd if that might help, but know someone on sly but reading up that looks very complicated, willing to learn but could do with a bit of help knowing where to look, quick look at google but even more confused. cheers.Comment

all you will have after flashing dm500s box are all the fta channels (on satellite),likewaise with a dm500c (on cable)what the other guys are talking about is using a dm500c as a server rather than throwing it in the bin.
if people only want their cable xhannels back all they need to do is buy either a kryptview a780 or a starview 6 and flash them with the required firmware (do a scan ) and attach the box to their broadband router .
if your wanting pay satellite channels you need to read up on cardsharing ,however its not a topic that is allowed on this forum so thats about as much as i can say.i love it when a dreambox comes together.

Flashing over network cable
Is it possible to use a crossover cable instead of a null modem cable, thee seems to be conflicting opinion on whether it is a good idea?
How Do I Use Dreamup?
If, for any reason, your box won't boot, you will have to use Dreamup to flash an image instead of Flash Wizard Pro or any other method. You won't be able to connect via ethernet so no ip address is required. It may be that the process simply hung up during flashing or you accidentally pulled the plug half way through (yes it did happen to me). This will get you back on track.
Required
- Null Modem Cable (this is NOT the same as a serial or rs232 cable, although it looks the same)
- Image File (.img) or a (.nfi) file
- DreamUp Program
- Disconnect all cables from your dreambox, including the power
- Connect the null modem cable to the dreambox and to your PC
- Load Dreamup.exe
- Click Connect and you will see a message like this

- Connect the power and the bootloader should be copied to the box
- The message should now say 'Box attached and Ready'
- Click Flash on the right hand side and select the image to be flashed

- Click Yes or Ya (depending on the version)
- The image should then be uploaded to the box
- There will be a countdown timer at the bottom of the program

- After the image is uploaded, it will be flashed to memory
- The finished process should look like this:

- Click OK and close down Dreamup
- Power off the dreambox for 30 seconds then power up
- If any errors appear, check all cables are connected properly and repeat the process but do not use the PC while it's running

hi i am trying to use Dreamup to flash my DM500C with USB-to-serial connection with a null modem cable.
May I ask how long do i need to wait after I power up my dreambox? I have waited for a few minutes but there is no 'Box attached and Ready' message. Hence, I wasn't able to flash my dreambox. What to do if you press the "Panic" button or if your Dreambox DM500C can't boot up
