        I try to backup the Pli image from a working box using DreamUp but it will always have this error "error while creating backup". I try using v1.3.3.2, v1.3.3.4, v1.3.3.5, v1.3.3.7, v1.3.3.9 with Win7, XP. I even change the different null cable, RS232 serial to USB cable & even the com port for the serial to USB port to 1. All these does not help at all, please advice me on this.

        1:53:27 AM box type: DM500
        1:53:36 AM Ping result: OK, box is alive and speaking to us ;-)
        1:53:46 AM downloading image from box...
        2:00:58 AM ERROR while downloading image from box!!

          BOX ALIVE & SPEAKING TO US means dream-up version is OK and your cable is good. Com-port selection is also correct.
          When using dream-up always say NO(nein) to FLASH-ERASE.
          It appears something on your working image is causing a conflict
          with dream-up loader. You could un-install any add-ons that are
          not vital on your image & then try back-up again
          Might be worth a shot to try USE NETWORK option on Dream-Up
          Connect null modem AND LAN-cable to box
          Tick USE NETWORK box & use following settings;
          Local IP(pc)----use router IP if box connected direct to router
          ----use PC-lan IP if box connected direct to PC
          Remote IP(box)----use dreambox IP
          Don't go near option SELECT ONE
          Select correct comport setting, then hit CONNECT
          If Network settings are correct box will flash in under 3 mins
          If flash takes 12-15 mins, network settings are incorrect
          As always DO NOT power-up box until prompted by Dream-Up.

              Great, i successfully did a backup with the network cable connected to the box.... it completed within 3 mins but it kind of strange especially when i will need to connect the network cable just to do backup... Thanks!!!

              another qns to ask u, the backup image is just a pure image or with other file (/var, /scce) in it? what other files is important to be backup?

                  When you select BACK-UP option using Dream-Up the complete
                  working image including bouquets & locked channels is stored.
                  Always delete any C-lines in Ccam/cfg before baking up image as
                  server may not be amused if same c-line tries to access service
                  from multiple boxes

                    Dreambox for earlier Windows version

                    [QUOTE=Devilfish;35]How Do I Use Dreamup?

                    If, for any reason, your box won't boot, you will have to use Dreamup to flash an image instead of Flash Wizard

                    Is there a version of Dreamup.exe for 16 bit Windows please?
                    My main computer doesn't have RS232 port and the Laptop which does is very old.

                    Thanks.

                      Using dreamup v1.3.3.4 on win 7 and so far so good and also you can use usb to serial converter if yr computer doesn't have the rs232 port. Take note though not all converter are compatible with the dreambox.

                        if someone has problems using a usb to serial adaptor its not the fault of the dreambox ,its down to the drivers required .simply put drivers are are a software that either come with the adaptor on a disk or you download it and install them on your pc ,the drivers then help your computer see and communicate with your box .the problem is that most usb to serail adaptor drivers (if not all ) are incompatable with windows vista and they even have a problem on more laptops with windows xp .

                        if you have a laptop with the same 9 pin connection that is on the back of the box (or a desktop computer with the same conection )you dont need a a usb to serial adaptor and wont have to worry about incompatable drivers.
                        i love it when a dreambox comes together.

                                C-line is a set of digits entered in Cccam/cfg by user to enable
                                sharing of server card. Can't say too much as card/share is not
