however, thinking of backup my current image before trying, but the box have not enough storage sapce. How to backup to the an ext usb thumb drive? the device manager can't detect nor mount the thumb drive ?

Anyone know how to get the channel number to work in dm800hd using openpli enigma2 clone image?

Fresh image upload, the usual setup SOP, and after full auto scan, I disabled background scanning, pump out the boutique/services using dreamboxedit.

Spent 1+ hrs rename the channel description with ch# prefix to sort numerically and replace initial scanned channel no. value "0" to the one from provider.
Upload back the new setting to the set.

But key in channel number via remote control still won't direct to the intended channel?

What steps or setting I miss out?

OK, this how I did it, you must assign all channels no (Nr.) 1 to
1000. Unused channels put Reserved then at the channel no.
you need put the name of the channel e.g. 624 FOX Family Movies etc.

However unlike DM500C, you can't press next button to jump to
the next channel, DM800 don't skip channel numbering.

You can press the numeric no (e.g. 624) on the remote, it will
jump straight to that channel.

Got the basic idea. Sorry, another few question.

I could get the service/boutique files download from the box, but after editing, and uploaded, the changes was not reflected.

Is there any special steps i may have missed out?

This is what I will do later:
Upload a "virgin" firmware to the set, SOP setup except service setup (skip). OpenPLi firmware had this unique "background scanning" of service, i will have it disabled, otherwise the "601 HBO" will revert to "HBO", and all other services in the same frequency will be altered as well, I will have problem sorting in numerically as intended.

Open up DreamboxEdit. "cut n paste" the 500C Enigma1 data onto the DM800 Enigma2 setup (changed the template for DM800). Add in empty services to make sure there isn't any gaps Save and upload to DM800.

Fingers crossed.

Another Question:

Why in some post-configured firmware, in their skin, every service had channel name and "Current showing titles" alongside. My current OpenPLi had only Channel Name. Tried few other skins, and same.

Is it skin related, or there is some other features to enable it?

1. Must we always use the newer version of mg_cfg file from installing the latest version of mgcamd 13.5a revision or we should overwrite it with the mg_cfg file that comes together with the keys' file to make it works?
2. Do we need to re-trigger/re-start the mgcamd 13.5a revision file after installing it and how to do it?

Your dreamboxedit is outdated. Please use the latest dreamboxedit, then you will not have the same problem. I use to have the same problem as you and I thought mine is latest until I went to Sat Universe website.
Even you google, you also can't find that latest version. But I have it. Share with you

Now i m trying to config the services n bouquets from the previous list (which i have backup via ftp).

I tried ftp all files from previous etc/enigma2 to etc/enigma2/ . however it seems dont work? Am i ftp the wrong directory or miss out something? anyone could advise? thks..

Do a auto transponder scan to get your cable.XML file setup.

You should have used dreamboxedit to backup your bouquet in the first place.

Use Dreamboxedit:

1. Go to "Tools" CLick on "Options"
2. Under the "Profile" tab
3. look for "Reset Dreambox file paths to their defailts for:
4. Click on "Enigma2"

And the file locations will be set automatically.
