Hmm no because its a cable guide, i was toying with adding the extra stuff for sat to it so it covered both but i know nowt about sat.

Can someone confirm how many posts you need to make before being able to download?

I joined as a complete novice to research and have a go - just ordered an openmedia 500cs hence interested in the 500 guide

Brilliant Guide....dreambox arrived today so i envisage a long night ;o)

First question i've just pluged in straight out of box to see what's on there now but when i do a auto scan on the 2 transponder available to me they do not lock or sync to any channels is this normal? or should i be able to see fta based in Belfast on vm

Never had a brand new image so i couldnt say
i would suggest looking at the stickies and getting the latest image DK 1.1 i believe and install that and add the "magic" files to make it all come alive

ive f****d up my dreambox

ok peeps ive actually killed my dreambox! Help! I was following Chimaeras guide and I was trying to flash a new DK 1.1 image which contains the hypercam fix. Now because I dont have a null cable to hand I decided to follow the telnet guide to flash the new image to temp folder in dreanbox. i followed every step successfully until telnet erased my current files but didnt open and install my new image from temp file like the guide says it should. Now i have a blank screen nothing! filezilla or telnet cant even find my ip address of the box it would appear to be completely wiped!! Any ideas please ?

did you actually ftp your new image across before you used this command?



If you didnt do this step and jumped to the step

cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot then yes you have deleted your image

because the files werent there for the reboot part which is the last bit of the line.

So you are going to have to get a null cable and follow the Dreamup section in the Howto to get going again.

Hi M8,

You will have to go back to the start again & get yourself a null modem cable & use dreamup & flash the box with the dkv1.1 image ,it is the best option. The cable is not very expensive. then you can use flash XP or Filezilla to move the rest of the files to you dreambox.
