hey Bobby, looks like we both are sailing in the same boat. this is exaclty happened when i tried flashing my DM with DKv1. even i am waiting for the null modem cable to reimage it..

Hi guys,
Dreambox 500c arrived today. Was advertised as no channels. He wasn't kidding - I can't even get BBC.
Been at it all day and tried old DW 1.65 image, manually entering keys and v2, 2.1 and the new DK1. Tried all kinds of methods, mainly flash ftp to copy keys and scce but no joy. Also tried Flashwizard Pro 6.3.
Everything goes well up to the point where I do a transponder Scan. I have tried Bruteforce,6952 and they both come up with the message "All known transponders have been tried but no lock was possible"

can u ftp to your box ?

Yes. I could ftp (using flashxp) to the box no problem until the image crashed whilst using Flashwizard pro. I tried so many images I've lost the place but I think it was a Gemini image which crashed on loading and left me with a box that won't boot. I have now ordered a null modem cable and will have a go with dreamup

you probably tried to use a gemini maxvar image,,,,,, if its a maxvar image your dont want to be using flashwizard pro to be flashing,
and in any case flashwizzard pro in my books very in-reliable,, why not use dreamup with null modem and 'enable network' works every time, and just as quick.

Yes it was a used box.
When I get the null modem cable and use dreamup to double erase the box and try a clean image my fingers will be well and truly crossed. I have looked at the tuner and it is a Phillips. From what I have been reading it won't be viable to get a new tuner so the bin is lying handy just in case. Is a dead tuner fairly common?

Thanks satman. As I say, I have ordered a null modem cable and look forward to trying dreamup in a few days time.

Just to wrap it up.
Null modem cable arrived today and I double erased then uploaded new image as instructed. Not surprised to find that it still doesn't pick up any transponders.
So it's a brick?
