any one out there can help me for days trying to get dreambox to work with cable followed newbie guide also changed ip adrees on dreambox and ip protcol on computer i have cross over cable connected via computers ethernt connection and to d/box with the null cable and croos over cable connected power on using flashfxp hit lightning strike conect but just says connection failed any ideas as im going maad

What are you actually wanting to achieve mate? Are you trying to flash a new image onto the box?

Is the ip address of the dreambox in the same range as your puter? for example if its 192.168.1.1 your puter will need to be 192.168.1.X

OK first up, the dk forum is THE place for all dreambox related goodies/help.
the stickies/guides are easy to follow and comprehensive.
i know from experience that when you join a new forum, it can be daunting to ask for help not saying that DK is like that, but you know what i mean. anyway i'm rambling. As i stated, the guides are excellent but maybe whats missing is all the info in one file. This isnt a critique BTW

Anyhoo, ive unashamedely plagiarised devilfish and thommos excellent guides and recompiled them with a bit of tweaking.

do you have the right type of program to open the rar file, like winrar or IZArc?

It opens just fine for me

I always a null modem cable and Dreamup for flashing the box. For copying/ftping files to the dreambox I used a proggie called coreftp.
