Flashing a new firmware by Browser

    What you need to flash
You need the image file you want to flash. Image files have the extension *.nfi. You can't flash other
images like *.img files. Don't try it - it won't work.
You need a network cable. If you connect the Dreambox directly to the PC,
you need a cross cable, if you connect trough a switch/hub/router you need a normal
    (non-cross) cable.
To flash a new image, you can use the second stage loader. It must be present and not broken.
The following steps assume you have a DHCP server.
If you don't have one, you have to setup an IP address in the bootloader's serial setup.

    - Power down the Dreambox, either using "shutdown" and by removing the power connector.
    Standby is not enough!

    - (1.) Press and hold the power button. Replug the power connector into the Dreambox.
    - (3.) A text "*** STOP ***" should appear. Now you can release the button.
The bootloader entered the "waiting" mode.
    - (4.) Above the "*** STOP ***" text, there should appear an IP-address
(four decimal values with a dot in between). If there appears the string "dhcp" instead,
the box still searches for a DHCP server. Wait a bit. If it doesn't change, something doesn't
work with the DHCP server. Check wether network cable is plugged in etc. If it just doesn't
work, set an IP using the serial terminal

    - Now, open a browser on your PC.
(1.) enter in the address line "http://ip/" (where ip must be replaced with the value in the LCD).
    - (2.) on the bottom of the page, there's a link called "firmware upgrade". Click it.

    - On the next page, you can select the flash image you want to flash. be sure that it has the ".nfi" extension.
You can't flash other images (like .img)!
    - Click on "FLASH!" and wait. It might take some time to upload and flash the image.
    - Switch the box off again, and on again. The new image should be flashed and working.

I am a newbie, and my SG dm 800hd pvr is dead and wont boot up. It displayed booting and then go into black screen on the OLED display.

I read about the flashing using the web browser and I am able to locate my IP address of my DM 800 HD by pressing the power button when bootup. The IP is displayed on the OLED display. However, I read that if I flashed the box, the key and scce will be gone and it has to be backup first. I have searched through the different thread in this forum but was unable to find an instruction on how to backup the key and scce in my situation.

Can any expert here help me or PM me on how to backup my key and scce files for SG before I flashed the firmware? or can anyone PM me SG key and scce files so that I can go ahead to flash the firmware? Thanks you very much.

            Hi masters,
i was able to flash a few boxes, but there was one particular box which I could not flash.
            using below steps :
            1) Avoid using Internet Explorer. Use Firefox or Chrome instead.
            2) Switch off your Dreambox DM800
            3) Connect the network cable to the DM800
            4) Press and HOLD the front panel switch (DO NOT RELEASE)
            5) Switch ON the power of Dreambox DM800.
            6) When the LCD shown "** STOP **" then release the front panel switch.
            7) Look at the IP ADDRESS on the LCD front panel.

at this point, the box will reboot the moment I let go of the front panel switch and started booting up. I am thus not able to continue with y flashing.
            anyone experience this before?
            thks!!!

Happen a few times to me . Could be faulty switch.

Try not to press to hard just feel the click and hold there. That's how I got mine to go into flash mode.

Perhaps try to search the image from the "Download section". The latest one which have all the updated channels.
