Will my new box soon be obsolete?

Hi All,

Just got a new Eurovox box this week, already lost a few channels due to this new encryption change. Apparently they're slowly switching channels to Nagra 3. Anybody have any idea how far this is gonna go, have I just wasted my money? It doesn't look good.

Yeah, I'm in Dublin, so far MUTV and a few ~~~~ channels are gone, but I'd imagine the rest won't be too far behind.

That sound like a really bad deal m8......i am wondering if this will also affect all those people who have purchased the new eurovox HD boxes ?? Thats a awful lot of money down the drain if it does include them .....

all box's are sold as free view and we all know the risk when we buy them.
so refund....... i very much doubt it

Yes m8..i know that, but did all the people who purchased the new HD boxes ?? persoanlly myself, i sold our ex5000 about a month ago. All the programmes i want to watch can be found online, except for some football matches, but i am getting a dish soon...yey

everyone buying these box's know the risk.
no one knows how long they going to last,hours,days, months or years.
the gamble is your to take regardless of which box you decide to go for.

By the time you get that dish mate our only 3pm broadcasting provider may well change their encryption which will mean no footy.

There's no point asking for a refund. The Box was designed to crack the Nagra 1 and 2 codes. it's still doing exactly what it was designed to do, the manufacturer can't be blamed if UPC change to the Nagra 3 encryption. It'll take a while to completely change over, I hope, so I should get some use out of the box.

Youre safe for now, it is only happening in Ireland at the moment. VM and Nagra 3 may never happen, but is open for debate.

The cost of changing encryption levels and subscriber cards in Ireland was already part of UPC's budget and plans when upgrading their network in Ireland.

VM subscriber base is obviously a lot bigger due to comparative population sizes. Nagra 3 in the UK may never happen given the financial outlay at this time.

IPTV rollout has been talked about but even that is still a few years away.

So for now the encryption change is an issue solely related to Ireland. Regards a fix for it there isnt any as of yet despite the N3 rumour mill on the Sat scene on both sides of the Atlantic.
