Hi alunfennell i live in dublin so does that mean everyone that has a box (eurovox or whatever), that all the channels will be gone in the next few months?as harry was saying we have already lost ~~~~ channels and mutv, liverpool tv and chelsea tv.im well pissed off because i rang upc last week and they said they are buying the sky HD package from sky in the summer and i was waiting for this so i could buy the eurovox ex7000 ?.So nagra 3 will be the death of all cable boxes??do u think nagra 3 will be able to be cracked? sorry for all the questions but i think anyone (especially living in ireland like me)is very worried about this. Thanks manIt will depend on what service you are picking up , For Republic of Ireland UPC Chorus & ntl are expected to change (that will go for NTL in the UK as well) Virmin in UK are set to use Nagra3 soon and if Sky Digital is to become a player in the cable market there will be the introduction of NDS.
With Cable there are always ways of getting around the encryption because its on a closed network unlike Satellite but you are always better to pay for at least the basic subscription for any hardware bypass of the encryption that might be possable in the future to open all channels even though your only paying a basic sub the receiver will get all the codes sent to it every few days.

I think that there was a slot on the front of our Ex5000, what was this slot for ?? is it for a card ?? And would it not be possible to possibly have a N3 decoder "add on" box connected into the RS232 socket ?? I can remember when SKY first started, the box we had was then connected to a box called "Filmview Gold" with a patch lead...this then allowed the unscrambling of the signal being broadcast off Filmnet ( a really good movie channel until they went D2mac encryption ) And more to the point, what will eurovox do about it ?? Will they eventually make N3 boxes ? And if they do, will they support the buyers of their old products by making a "add on box " ?? I think that eurovox really need to consider what support ( if any ) they offer......think about it.Comment

UPC are fairly cash-rich compared to Vermin.theres been alot of complaints about the new cards not working on the old boxes and the cable company r havin to send new boxes out and they havent got them to send ,, no money in the bank for that ,, fingers crossed it will go tits up and they will call it off

Upgrading the Irish system was part of there budget when they bought over ntl/chorus.
At present best hope is for a n2 fix, because looks like they will be running the simulcast n2/n3 for a while yet...
This would only really become reality for a linux box one would think,,,,,,, cant see Eurovox being any more use than a doorstopper right enough long term in Ireland.boom!Comment

I grabbed the 7000 - I doubt VM have the cash for level 3 encryption, especially as they're so in debt! If they do go for it, well so be it, I knew the risks. It would suck monkey balls though
