Hi alex, thanks very much for your reply, thats cleared it up alot. One thing, have you ever came across a similar situation regarding the wrong serial number on the Eurovox compared to that on the packaging? Where does the trader stand with that when it comes to getting it replaced? She is saying that the manufacturer will not replace it at all and is "trying to get it fixed".

EDIT I forgot to add, she also said yesterday she has "had to fork out ?40 out of her own money to try and get it fixed"

      Hi
shes speaking rubbish regarding the ?40 ,normally any faulty boxes I would just hand over the new receiver and keep new carton and remote and return these to importer so carton serial number and receiver number would not match anyway ,she has given you a used box and most used boxes are fualty

Thanks alot Alex, I really appreciate your help. Any advice on what I can say to her, she's adamant that the box is not theirs and we have swapped it with a faulty one.

I would give her one last chance and then go to who ever is in charge at pc fair I am sure they will put pressure on her to resolve the matter ,failing that just stand at there table and tell all to any potential customer no doubt she will change your box then or just take another box of her I know what I would do

            faulty eurovox 7000hd

            I agree with Alex

go back next week when the fair opens and if the box is not replaced i would tell any potential customers how you were treated and make sure they dont sell any more boxes

i have bought boxes previously from computer fair in the manchester area without any problems could be just these rogues

Stand outside their stand and tell everyone they ripped you off. You are in the right legally but it will be loads of hassle. Call the trading standards and sound them out. There's bound to be some useful info on their website.

It might even be worth trying tro contact Eurovox, they wont be happy that someone's on here with a problem with a new box.

Hi all just a quick update on whats happened. Theyve taken the piss now to be honest. In the week I contacted consumer direct, they told me they were in breach of the sales of goods act (as amended). They want to pass my details on to local trading standards which I've just sent them...

I've been to the show tonight and as soon as we got their the show manager said the trader has told him tonight that the manufacturer is refusing to do anything so there's nothing more they can do, which was completely different from what we were told last week by the trader, they said they were waiting for 2 parts for the box.

So my dad goes over to the seller to have a massive go at them, the seller then said that the manufacturer is still trying to fix it?! He said the 2 parts they tried didn't work and are waiting for another part for it (which i believe is total bullshit). My dad said the show manager just told us that they were not gonna fix it at all and the seller said the show manager is wrong. We then went over to the show manager with the seller and the show manager told us he must have misinterpreted what the seller told us before. Its a big **** up not only from the seller but also the show manager too!

It's been going on for 1 month now (4 weeks to the day since i bought the box) and for 3 of the weeks we've been without the faulty box and also ?170 down. Total pisstake. Trading standards it is now, **** em, ill tell them about the illegal firmware they have on a disc spool under their counter too.

from what you have told them it is grounds to raid the pc fair or make a test purchase from them

Thanks wongers. The show is on tonight, but my dad has received a TEXT MESSAGE from these people simply saying "No word from suppliers. pls wait til next week". Taking the piss or what.

I was advised by Trading Standards to send the trader a letter via post giving them 14 days and then go from there. TS seemed pretty confident regarding my case though.
