you dont need to find plug in usb thats what you do plug the usb in to your puter and then look for the com number thats got to correspond to the one on your loader in order to flash box. i use vista and it automatically loads drivers but if xp didnt then yes you will

oops...right all that happens when i plug in the USB is 'usb2.0-ser' is listed

Hi wilf,

I get as far as 'plug in usb' i cant see the port and comms option?

Im using XP

EDIT: Im just thinking.I havent installed the drivers for the usb rs323,will i have to do this 1st?

i had to install drivers because i was using a usb to serial covertor...

not sure what you mean there,is that what is said after you installed driver disc? when you go in device manager and plug in your usb, then in the central window of the management page can you see anything that says usb (Com l&p)

now i see you posted have vista not xp it should have installed itself. if you cant find the com l&p in device manager, then go back to your loader. load up with firmware and select com 1 and try it if no go, move onto com 2 and so on hopefully before you get to 4 it will have worked. if not take out the usb and put it in the next usb port on puter and repeat the above

How would i decide which 1 would work with my usb?

p.s earlier com3 seemed to start downloading but after 5mins there was no progress on the bar

did you remember to turn power off to the box load loader press download then turn box power back on otherwise it wont flash

So i switch the box of.Load the loader.Then select com3..start download and once i have pressed that,switch the box immediately back on?

yes it may not be com3 but thats what yoiu do try what i said earlier until one goes.

Cheers wilf...Com3 is the only 1 that says its downloading.Both when box is on and when off.How long should it take as there is no progress on the bar both when switched on and off and its saying downloading.
