    it should start to go right off have you tried any of the other usb ports on the puter, this way is pain stakingly annoying i know but if you could have found the comport number in devise manager you would know exacly which port to select

      I have been attempting this on my old laptop.Ill try all the ports now on the Pc i have.

        Thats me tried all the usb ports on my pc and laptop.The only place i seem to be getting anything at all is on the usb ports of the laptop and com 3 which says its downloading.But no progress is made.

          the problem may be here with the driver can you see alist of drivers and select one. when you plug in usb do you hear a bling sound.

            Yes i hear a bling noise when i plug the usb in.

            where would i look for a list of drivers?

                im sure that bling noise tells you driver installed, what is your cable set up is it usb to 9pin male joined together with a 9pin female to female null modem cable?

                  This is a brand new pc and i havent installed any drivers for this usb.

                  Im using usb to rs232 serial im sure.which is connected to two female serial cable.If that makes sense

                  1 into the 232usb and 1 into the back of the digivox

                    if it is a female serial cable theres your problem it has to be a null they look the same but are wired different where did you get it from

                      why not just buy a real serial null modem cable, will save so much hassle

                          yes but the cable that attaches to that and your box needs to a serial NULL modem cable not just a serial cable

                              yes that right its the female to female one im questioning here it needs to be a rs232 null modem cable. sorry you posted whilst i was writing
