    H1 has 1x DVB-C/T tuner and 1x DVD-S2 tuner
    2S has 2x DVB-S2 Tuner

Anyone have an idea of how to make a backup of the latest patched openvix image hades 09? I want it so i just have to flashh the image and don't need to set everything up again.

I personally would try to avoid openvix as better to avoid any potential disasters by bricking while using an unsupported image. But had trouble setting up openatv and openpli... Both refusing to download plugins and other minor issues.

So far i'm really pleased with the receiver. Have a H2 and i might do a little review as they doesn't seem to be many about. The one drawback of this receiver coming from a previous solo2 and now mutant receiver is the speed. It is a bit unfair compAring them as those receivers were bought nearer to ?300 when new while this is barely ?80. But the i do remember the old days of taking forever to boot up my vu+ duo with these, while setup you shouldn't really need to be boot up while watching tv, it is one area maybe they could improve with a better bootloader perhaps... Not sure it might just come down to raw processor speed where the zgemma is definately from the older generation of CPUs. Overall zgemma is the receiver for the low end market. One it blows all closed source receivers out of the park in terms of features and plugins being enigma2 and the fact you can get a twin tuner receiver for this price - means it should be the go to receiver IMO for the lower price range.

It may not be as easy to setup as an openbox skybox f3 f5 etc. but can do a whole lot more and gives a more closer experiance to official subscriptions in my opinion, with channel layout, and epg planning etc. it probably even gives more flexibility in terms of customisation and appearance than official subs.

I want to see a future model capable of having an internal hard drive and maybe a better boot up time. The package you receive from airsat could probably do with updating to, with coax f plug cnnecters (especially on dvb-c tuner models rather than the now almost obsolete composite AV leads).

I wouldn't worry about connectors my vu+ uno and my gigablue quad+ both have the same type of C/T tuner connectors. What version of openatv are you using. I've just set up an H1 on openatv 5.0 with no issues and have an H2 arriving in the next few days so we'll see if it is an image issue or a user issue. The open atv feeds do sometimes go down from time to time.

I was using the latest version of both from the zgemma.tv site which has the images for download.

I had a similar issue with openpli, so dont know why openvix seemed to work straight off. Like i said, i would have preferred any of the other images but had no luck with them.

Regarding connecters, i was referring to the f plug add on you can get 10 x for ?3 on ebay. The one that screws on the a coax connecter at one end and plugs straight into the cable in on the other end. What i was getting at, it should be much easier for them to provide a little connecter add on like that, than the composite av cables they send out, hdmi is already provided. I'm sure most uk customers would prefer thatconnecting to virmin lines. On a positive nice to see they come with a 3 pin fused plug.

Even with it being a chinese build, it's one of the better built boxes i've seen and easily competes with the LX receivers which are korean made with twin tuner being ?40 more. Even the IR sensor on the zgemma is pretty good from what i've noticed.

Just remember on these types of receivers and others that the DVB-C/T/T2 tuner not only does Cable but also Freeview and some Freeview HD and that is why the tuner is equipped with a Female Coax type adapter as you would not fit an 'F' type connector to your Aerial feed would you.

The images from zgemma.tv are the open atv 4.2 link which should work perfectly as well as 5.0. Digicon has already upped a working backup for 4.2 and 5.0 on H1 and I've also had both the above mentioned working fine on H1 hopefully H2 will arrive tomorrow and I'll let you know how things go

no i get that.. I never requested the actual tuners being changed adapted for that type of connecter - just wanted an adapter included. I remeber even from the days of dm-500c clones and eurovox cable receivers the tuners have always been like that, my point was it would be better to include an f plug adapter rather than other less useful stuff. The biggest selling point of these combo receivers... in particular in the uk market... is the ability to use on cable, not freeview. It was just a small annoyance of mine that I had stuff which wasn't useful (AV cables) and had to order an adapter.

I can't say for certain, but I would take a wild guess that 90% of people who purchase zGemma receivers are doing on the back of information they have heard about using cable to get 'HD channels'. Most of the mainstream methods for watching for freeview are done via other means, like built in tv tuners or small cheap set top boxes. It's not a coincidence that since many 'lost' the 'ability' to view HD channels on satellite, the sale of combo or DVB-C/T tuners has risen sharpley, along with an increase in options from various manufacturers providing these combo dvb-c/t receivers/tuners.

Anyway, speaking to the seller at airsat they seemed pleased with the feedback i gave them and will probably be looking to incluide those f plug type adapters and connecters in furture sales.

Ok H2 arrived today and first set up showed that plugins will not download when using the image shipped with the receiver until you telnet in and do an opkg update, then everything is fine. Alternatively you could just bang on openatv 5.0 and it works perfectly. Of course it is best practice to do an opkg update after any install. But there you go, mixture of older image and user error

People are reporting that the plugins are showing 'Down for maintenance' after installing openatv 5.0 on zgemma star H1.
                      Are they working on yours?

Working on h2 just installed tsmedia about 10 mins ago on open atv 5.0.
People should telnet in and do opkg update. It may or may not help

I've tried that and get an error that says:

                          * parse_from_stream_nomalloc: fgets: Input/output error.

And that means exactly nothing to me as I'm still getting used to these boxes.

Flash a different nightly build. It may just be a sources file error. Sorry i don't have a sources files for h1and am at work so can't edit my h2 sources file for you to use in h1

Have you tried digicons h1 backup to rule out errors in nightly's. Remember nightly builds can be buggy and on a brand new receiver will definately be buggy. Sometimes it helps just to reflash the same build and reinstall your personal settings backup. The same image can be as different as night and day depending on how the box and usb sick feel at the time of flashing
