Thanks, but what do you mean mosc/emulator? Am a newbie, just intresting to know the technical side for a change. Apologies if i'm being a nuisance. Also, the keys in keymaster (haven't downloaded yet) do they apply for all boxes, including digivox? Just wondering, as i'm going to wait a bit and see what happens. ThanksVM have used the swap byte method again (3rd time now). The only survivors of this attack are the original moscs.
The reason your box isn't working is cos the code/card that does your descrambling is a mosc emulator and the calculation formula for swapping the byte isn't in the code where as it is in an original mosc (or if it isn't then it can easily be added at the update). The code/card we are using doesn't have this info (As no emulator can emulate something that hasn't occured) so therefore cannot work it out. In a nutshell it gets the code from the feed and only knows certain ways to calculate the resulting keys. Where as the original VM cards already have the info to do the sums.
The swap byte method is pretty cool as it's telling the box "Here.. this is your keys. use them to get a picture" but in effect one number in each key is false. The box gets totally confused and constantly tries to update.
Now a Guru will look at the logs and work out what formula they're using and then will incorporate it into the code of your updates. Once the emulator has this info they can't use that particular attack again and in future VM will have to use another part of the mosc memory to store another swap byte formula.
This is why non-moscs are hit... It's impossible to defend against something that hasn't happened till it happens.

1 post, but it can take time before you can download as it says in the "...please read this" thread on the introduce yourself forum.Originally posted by PornopartnerTypical. Working for 2 days now BOOM.
How many posts do you need to download.
Also everytime I try to post Explorer comes up with page unavailable.
I believe 500+ new members have joined, so that may be taking it's toll on the server, so exit the brower and navigate back to the forums.Last edited by someone23; 27 November, 2008, 20:35.Comment

Without getting to techy..
A OSC is an original VM card.
A Mosc is a OSC card that has been modified. but to all extent and purposes it looks just like VM's card and VM can't tell the difference so they darn't attack it in case they hit there customers.
An emulator is a card like a funcard/opus/atmega.. It has a different chip technology and pretends to be a Mosc. VM can use certain timing attacks and updates to hit anything that doesn't conform to their OSC cards. Like the attack that has just happened.
The boxes like starview/kryptview/dbox etc' also have an emulator/mosc inside them but it's in code on a chip.. depending on how well that code performs depends on whether it gets hit. This is why some boxes survived the pre swap-byte hits.

Has anyone got a problem with the keys being reset after you have typed them in from Keymaster?
Mine (Dbox 2 Laky Pro) keeps on doing this.
Just a point to note. I had briefly got it to work as I was changing one of lines in the keylist.txt file. However, in my haste to put in the exact character as specified by keymaster the next character change has caused it to stop working. I have now put in what keymaster has suggested but to no avail. Keys keep getting reset
Any ideas
i.e.
Mines a 5C (Ex CW) so should be in the order of N 5C 00 123456789101112 ROM 10 (example)
Can someone PM me their EX CW keylist.txt entries? exactly as they are in their keylist file (character for character)
ThanksComment
