    No Network ID when scanning

Hello, I am having a problem with scanning for channels. My A780 has been working fine (save for the odd need for a re-scan) for 18 months but last week 90% of the channels stopped working. I noticed the signal quality on all affected channels was 0% and assumed that a reported VM service fault in my area was the cause.

That fault has since been resolved (the VM box is now displaying channels properly) but my Kryptview still had the same issue so I performed a Factory Reset and attempted to scan. However, it doesn't detect any Network ID (locations) - it just keeps saying "Already Exist" 8 times and then completes without finding anything.

I read in another post about going into the menu and deleting the TPs that are listed under NTL so I did so but then NTL disappears from the Network list when I attempt to do a scan!

I am in Oxford (ex-NTL) and am scanning without the splitter, no ethernet and box is up-to-date on firmware. Does this still indicate a problem with my cable connection?

    Many thanks for your help.

Hi Asek. Yes, the VM box is able to receive all channels (I'm on Medium package) fine since the "area" service fault was resolved last night.

Is it possible to delete the TPs listed under NTL and add them manually? I may barking up the wrong tree...

Check your are scanning the correct NetID--settings/tech stuff/NetID--will show correct NetID
the "area fault" may have been VM changing the NetID/provider

The connections on the VM box use them on the KV box.

Sorry, I was away over the weekend and couldn't respond. I have checked the Net ID on my VM box and it says "20". Dunno what that means but I cannot find anywhere to input this info into my Kryptview...

I can confirm that I'm using the same cable connections while scanning the Kryptview as I use for the VM box.

          Many thanks.

Referimg to cables swap the VM cables with the KV cables.

NetID will show as Nework ID ????? 5 digits
This is a old list for Oxford, may have changed
            Oxford 1 NTL, 00020
            Oxford 2 NTL, 00020
            Oxford 3 NTL, 00013

Do a factory reset rescanning from the correct NetID
Check the box does indeed have the correct firmware
            Menu/System Info/Date 26/04/12

              Thanks lac.

Just checked again and Network ID on VM box is defo just "20" - not 5 digits (I have a picture if it's possible to attach).

I have used exactly the same cables from the VM box i.e. unplugged the VM box and connected the KV to the same cable (without a splitter).

I've done another Factory reset and confirmed the firmware is 26/04/12.

On the KV, under the "NTL" Network profile it has 8 channels by default with the following frequencies (all on Symbol 6,887):

              250.00
              291.00
              579.00
              643.00
              755.00
              803.00
              818.25
              826.25

On performing an Auto-scan it comes up with "Already Exist" 8 times and then completes without finding any channels. I never get the option of selecting any geographical location (i.e. Oxford) for the Network ID.

It's weird because I have Auto Scanned many times in the past and not had this issue. I thought the VM signal might be the cause as on the Manual Scan page I noticed the Signal Strength was about 70% but the Quality was 0% however the VM box receives channels fine.

Apologies for the length of the post. Hopefully it helps explain the situation a bit more clearly.

Presume you're scanning on Network not on all.

                Channels Search Type ==Network

The channels you list are TPs there should be about 55.

Going back to a older firmware then updating may help

did you try scanning another provider ,not ntl or chorus.

Yes, I'm scanning on Network only and I've tried all the providers. I'll try going to an older firmware and see what happens.

                    Thanks for your patience!

There appears to be a problem in the Oxford area,
                      A780 not working ( 1 2)
Try going back to the FTA firmware and check that the FTA channels (BBC,ITV) work, using 00020 NetID

Looks like Wilf381 is having exactly the same issue . It all occured after a week's downtime when my VM box was showing channels but they were continuously freezing/blocky. VM said there was an area fault which has since been resolved but the KV box never came back.

It's definitely an A780. I'll try the FTA firmware and report back.

                          Thanks for the help chaps.

Maybe your signal level has dropped and is now too low for the KV but OK for the VM box?

Maybe they have changed default transponder, try scanning as a different provider, eg TW instead of NTL.

Right, I tried the FTA firmware and one of the older ones and the same problem occurs. I tried all providers again and no joy.

I think it could be a signal issue as when I'm on the manual search page the Signal Strength is showing 75-80% but Signal Quality is 0%. The VM box is still OK but I noticed that VM show another area fault (occured about a week after the last one was "resolved") which is due to be resolved tomorrow apparently.

If the area fault resolution doesn't resolve my KV issue then I'm kinda stuck as I can't get VM out to repair a signal issue if the VM box itself is OK .

Will let you know how it goes tomorrow.
