Ave a look and see which 1 its using,right click my cpmputer,properties,hardware,device manager,towards the bottom of the list it got ports (COM&LPT) click that and it will tell ya............

Just a null modem cable, which is doing nothing.

I only ask because quite a lot have problems with USB to Serial adaptors, usually just the drivers for the adaptor.

ok answer this,kv box has the null modem cable connected,other end to pc rs232 port yes,both ends of cable are the same?modern laptops dont have serial ports but older dell laptops and desktops might,did the cable say null modem db9

for scanning issue remove coaxial and lan from box and scan after a factory default was done should clear tps,do check for area issues first so as not too waste your time and always scan from direct feed.

This might be the problem? I am in device manager, and scrolled down, can not see Ports anywhere, scrolled up, opened them all up and cant find anything lisitingports or com and LPT

Ports (Com & LPT) only shows in device manager if cable is recognised, suspect you have the wrong cable. Menu, system info, what date shows.

Hello, recived my usb 2.0 sir cable this morning and installed its driver correctly

opened stb editor, with a bin file, and it flashed my box, i get no signal now on my tv.. no picture at all. i made the mistake of flashing a a750 bin file, my box is a780

tried to flash again with the correct bin file and i get the message of UART initiliazation failed

ok scrap my last post figured it out, flashed it no problem, now back to my original post the very first one, no channels being found, i have factory reset and tried to scan, comes up with 'already excist' then scans no channels

i thought it might be my vermin cable so i brought downstairs virmin box upstairs which works through a cable, i plugged it in via my cable up here and it works, sly 1 on as we speak.

so there must be another fault i am doing wrong, theres no fault with the cable... anyone? cheers

I'm having same problems with the "already exists routine" and I've reflashed firmware,I've factory reset updated online firmware and I'm only getting 8 tps coming up,cable service status says good, I've tried scanning other providers but nothing works,any more ideas would grateful

2 things come to mind if box was not flashed by the old null modem cable method and pc and used the usb option data can be lost in the transfer of file,did box reboot when it was flashed?
scanning are you only trying 1 provider,try others and from main feed.

No idea, but he dropped me a message saying he had got it sorted via another box, a box to box transfer or something along them lines.

When i flashed it myself with the latest firmware, it did indeed reboot, i could access all the menus and everything from the remote.

I tried scanning all the providers such as NThell then all, or nthell network etc

did you scan from direct feed after you factory reset/defaulted and when the box says already exist did it go back to installation or you stopped it first? could be a tuner issue and when you did box to box got it going again ,how old is the box?
