Larryoke / DESSERTDOG - thanks for the replies and further help- i knew i would be a challenge to you !!!!- sorry

I printed of the Tut and followed it to the letter? Bin file looked ok on the USB stick - plugged into the SV and switched on - i was expecting the upload to happen automatically but nothing seemed to be happening so i went into the USB section from the main menu and clicked on the bin file and it asked whether i wanted to format the file to which i replied yes - not sure if that was correct but thats what i did and then the file itself disappeared from the memory stick to leave two folder files?

With the SV box still on i then tried 1570 from the menu screen but no secret menu appeared?

The bin file has gone from my USB stick - should i try loading back onto the USB and having another go??

Why i am getting thre numbers 8882 now when i switch it on??

As always thanks for your help with this - i did format my USB to fat32 as well.

If it is staying on 8882 the box is ~~~~ed! bare in mind it does hang on 8882 for a short while, if you can't get any further then you need to contact your supplier as there is no user solution to this fault

you drag and drop files onto usb stick, insert into box when powered off, power on and select that file to load into box.
always have box off when inserting/removing usb.

Thanks for reply and patience Larryoke

The 8882 only comes on for literally a second when you switch the box on before it then goes to BBC1.

I will try the firmware again but is going to the USB section of the menu and manually picking the bin file for format the correct way to upload the firmware?? Cheers

Ok then your box is alright, what channels have you got? it has obviously scanned for you to have BBC1.Press ok on remote & scroll right that should take you to channel listings ie; movies, sport etc are you getting these?
Ps press menu > system info & post back what it says on the screen.

                Thanks for coming back again.

On the channel listings i have all the movies, sports etc showing following the auto scan with about 80% of them saying they are $ channels but when you press a channel number the screen goes blank apart from BBC 1- Channel 5 and there are some channels that come up with a number ref 3000 on them?

On the menu>system info the following is shown:

                Model No - C531
                S/W Version - 2.04.MP
                Boot Version - B-21

                Cheers Steve

Have you turned the keycode on? Menu > 1570
(on remote) > scroll down to keycode & switch on (scroll left or right) scroll upto set default & press ok on remote > exit to a $ channel & leave to update. I use firmware v2.03 which seems the most stable I don't know about v2.04, if when you turn the keycode on you still can't access the $ channels I would suggest d/l v2.03 & starting again.

Larryoke - it is the menu> 1570 element that i haven't been able to get the keycode part up to switch on.

Menu> 1570 worked fine on my SV 3 box when you had to switch the EMU on just can't understand the problem with this SV 5 box?

I have re loaded the suggested firmware back onto my USB which i will try again tonight but i'll come back if thats ok if the keycode menu doesn't appear and i can try v 2.03 if you can point me in the right direction for that download if i need it. Thanks as always. Steve

Tried uploading the original firmware again and the result was worse. This time still no secret menu to amend the keycode and the channels it scanned was only 3001 & 3002 and box display stayed on channel 3000?? Not even BBC1 to Channel5!ly

Should i give the v2.03 firmware a go??

I would, make sure you only insert/take out the usb with the box switched off, also use a direct feed ie; straight from the wall with no splitters, come back & let us know how you get on, in the meantime I will try & find an alternative code, I know for the early sv's it was 1668 or parental control 2004 info but I will check.

OK will do and i will let you know - going to be away for a couple of weeks after today but i will be back!!

Your right - on my SV 3 the code was 1570 or 2004 with the master code number 1668 and that got you into that "secret menu" to get the EMU on. Cheers

Loaded the firmware onto the SV box then tried menu > 1570 in order to turn the keycode on but still no "secret menu" appeared.

I still tried the auto scan and this time all the channels came up sport, movies etc with $ just no keycode menu to swith them on!

Away for a couple of weeks now Larryoke but i really appreciate all your help and hopefully we can try something new when i get back just don't understand why i don't get that keycode menu?!

                              Thanks again
