    Hi Mate,

All of the available firmwares for the PVR right now used to auto update until this big change recently, if they release a new firmware for the PVR then it will be an autoupdate one, but right now there is no firmware available for the PVR that will autoupdate.
Unfortunately to be honest mate this is looking less and less likely as time passes, the Starview 2 has been dealt with a few days ago so it is really looking like the people who bought the PVR's are being shafted regardless of the fact that most have only had them a few months.

    Paul.

      Old ways best

      Hi,
Been running my Box pvr on the same c***s now for five days ,hopefully these wont chop and change to often, I still have it set on auto update as it would not work with it switched off.
      cheers

          new firmware

Apparently there is a new AU update available since yesterday. It is dated 28/11/08.

I've not uploaded it yet but on another forum some users are having problems with duplicate channels but I think you are supposed to reformat or erase your channel list first.

              pvr update 08/12/2008

there's a new update for the box pvr dated 08/12/2008. its on eamos library on afterdawn.com/dvb forums. I've loaded it up this morning and it all seems to work ok .autoupdates etc. no channel dump so you'll have to rescan and sort it all out again after.

In system information - The Box PVR - Ver 3.100, 29 Jan 2008

                    What version is it?

I have been able to manually input codes as per the great advice on this site and got the box to work, but am wondering what to do ie if I update the firmware (when available) will the codes update automatically?

What connections do I need to connect to my laptop, Dell XPS M1330 (doesn't have the connection that most boxes have so can it be done via USB?)

Can I simply add files to memory stick and downloa to the box pvr that way?

Sorry to sound so dumb but have trawled this site a obtained lots of great info but I am not that techy!

                    Thanks in advance.
carnt help you with your box but its nice to see a fellow wolves lad on here

                      Plonker

I have just switched my box off by mistake!!!

I was moving it to do a flash and pressed the button on the back.

Now I can't get my box back on, the USB to RS232 adapter doesn't offer the drivers for vista!!

My box is now off - is there any way I can get it back on to its previous settings? When it is on it just says THE BOX on screen....

                      Any ideas recieved with pleasure...

                      cheers

hi pvr owners. I too am a disgruntled 'The Box' PVR owner. was disgruntled right from the start when I bought it with a dodgy hard drive. I have never had the recording work properly... I digress.
I have manually updated my keys and got my channels on again(after turning on autoupdate). However, after 2 days use I decide to rescan (because I aint got sly1), no joy.
I have done a factory setting (reset) and everything has gone. Scanning does not bring back my channels. I am on Nt,l keycodes remain the same (from keylogger), I have tried with auto update on and off. I have tried telewet. Still cant get channels, I have been up all night.
                        Any help would be great

                          Hi Rob,

Not sure if this will help but I had exactly the same problem, trying to scan for a channel that wasn't working and found absolutely nothing.
For me the fix was purely to turn the box off at the rear main switch, then back on after a few seconds, then scan again, found all channels then.

                          Hope this helps,
                          Paul.

Go into the menu, where nag is, at the bottom you'll see LAST hit that and press ok to store, put your numbers in making sure it's on n teeeee l, save after each one, ie 00 input then ok to save, then go to 01 input then save, exit back making sure emu is switched to on, go to sly sports 1, should come on, if not repeat the above but leave the bit out about LAST.
See if that works for you.

Thanks, I have done al that, and mine is sorted out now. I repeated and repeated, and eventually worked.
I think for some reason when I went on one of the channels, svod or something it would change my keycode, only slightly. I have junked most of them channels now.
My next project is to do the firmware update, but I got a bit of studying to do before I attempt that, null modem cables and such... urgh! can I not just use the usb port on the back? what is that used for? can the channel editor be used through there? not that I have one yet.

Yes you can use the usb port, probably easier if you have not used an rs232 null modem cable b4.
No channel editor available if you are running the very latest firmware yet....
