Starview 7 New Firmware

Has anyone tried this new firmware

i just put this on and is giving a msg saying valid to 4-nov-2011 and i dont know what this means but it seems to me it use it and your box will stop working on this date so until someone says otherwise use at your own risk mate

This is nothing to do with the box turning off on the 4-nov-2011....that is when the connection to your modem/wireless router is valid til. The message of "Valid to x-xxx-xxxx" appears in the bar where it used to just say "connected" when you have an internet connection, so dont panic...it will probably just re-establish the connection after this time (or change the vaild to date once your box is rebooted).

The one thing I did notice though, is you dont have an option under the menu options-->network--> for net application or to change it to USTREAM! The box seems to just do that as defaut now, however my network connection settings never seemed to work when selecting the Automatic option, I had to manually enter my IP and subnet mask details to get the box to connect to my wireless router (via VAP11G wifi bridge)! Bit of a strange one....

im confused ,what benefit do we get by putting new firmware on our boxes ,i have 1.03 on mine all ok with no msg sayin valid till or any thing ,do we think that 1,03 will just stop working soon so we have to put 1.04 on and so so on will this continue to be the case cos i suppose changing ya firmware every year anint no big prob ,,

Also to load this new firmware do we just put it on our mem sticks and load in the normal way and it overites 1,03 ,do we then have to scan etc

Load it the same was as you have previous firmware. V1.04 is recommended as it has bug fixes and several other server related fixes, that cannot be posted for obvious reasons.

Use the latest firmware Carling 1.04

If your cable signal is good you shouldn't have picture break-up

as said always try and keep up with the latest firmware and another point it wont matter what firmware your box is on when time limit expires,other source told me the date shown is the end of time.

From what i Know the date shows when the box will not work. When did you buy the box?. They say the starview box works until a year. This is the same for the Starview HD

typical of starview to give u only a year i think when my year is up its off to the krypt

Before i put v104 on my sv do i need to rescan etc after i load it or is it just load and all is ok

It's recommended to fac.-reset before flashing box, so it would be
necessary to rescan. I don't think it's any major hardship
